Mach4 Toolbox / Re: Saving the selected spindle speed range
« on: August 13, 2015, 11:08:57 AM »
have a look at using script to save the value of the dro to your profile, and then load it on startup.

DazTheGas

I looked thru the .ini file and I don;t see a setting that is in there for the selected spindle range.

How do I know the format that this entry should have?

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: MACH4 - Modbus
« on: August 09, 2015, 10:08:43 PM »
I have been fooling around with modbus for a few hours, and I have discovered something I didn't find in all of the searching of documents and fora that I did.

When you are setting up a Functon in modbus in Mach4, even though you have to select the Function type, such as, "Read Holding Registers 16 bit (0x3)", you also need to put the prefix (in this case, "3") in the box labelled "Register Name Prefix".

Not very intuitive; I did it sort of on a whim when nothing worked.

Seems like that box should be labeled "Register Address Prefix", as it has nothing to do with the name. And why is it necessary to put in the prefix, if I have already selected the Function type, which implies the prefix?

Anyway, I am finally talking to my VFD.

I thought maybe somebody else would find this useful when they dig in to modbus.

Mach4 Toolbox / Saving the selected spindle speed range
« on: August 09, 2015, 03:24:22 PM »
I added a DRO to the standard screenset that lets me select the Spindle Range, but when I close Mach4 and re-open it, the range goes back to zero.

How can i have Mach4 remember this setting?

Well, thanks for that suggestion. A re-install fixed it.

If I zero the axes and regen the toolpath, the numbers change slightly, but they are still very small, ans the MAX and MIN values for each axis are identical to each other.

Hmm, looking there I found:

PathXmax: 0.00245
PathXmin: 0.00245
PathYmax: 0.002375
PathYmin: 0.002375
PathZmax: a ridiculously long number, 2.***************************x
PathZmin: the same ridiculously long number as the Zmax

This is with the roadrunner tap file loaded.

Are these the correct registers?

nice work guys. :o
any way to pan on the tool path screen after you zoom?
also can you show the tool path extents  on the tp page, I guess that's possible to do with the editor?

I am also missing the Toolpath Extents info that Mach3 provided after loading a program. Has this been addressed? I looked for DROs that might have this info, but couldn't find anything that looked right.

Is there a way to have the keyboard plugin automatically disabled when the focus is not in the Mach4 window, and re-enabled when the focus goes back to Mach4 window?

Mach4 General Discussion / Mach4 and Windows 10
« on: July 30, 2015, 02:12:38 AM »
I finally broke down and bought a new PC for use with Mach3 & Mach4.

I use an Ethernet Smooth Stepper.

The PC is on the way to me, with Windows 7 installed.

I am thinking of upgrading it to Windows 10 when I receive it.

Is there any reason that Windows 10 would not work with MAch3 or Mach4, and the ESS?
