General Mach Discussion / Re: Making a GO TO button
« on: November 10, 2007, 04:10:12 PM »
G'day Wayne

If you use G55,  G56  etc then why don't you just use the Goto Zero button?

Alternatively you could set up a "Set Ref" and "Goto Ref" buttons with the appropriate DROs  (see screen grab)

I believe the second part of your question is there already.

DROs on the settings page as well as a setting on the Config page.

I have not used it so can not say for sure but that's what it looks like.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Jerky motion on Gcode files
« on: November 10, 2007, 03:36:02 PM »

This is a great forum with many helpful participants but sometimes it's better to go to the Yahoo group with a problem.

I posted on Yahoo about the CV Feedrate issue and Art fixed it straight away.  :D

Following is Arts Yahoo post regarding this.

Hi Guys:

Someone mentioned the CVFeedrate setting was turning on by itself, so if youve had CV trouble,
make sure its turned off on the settings tab, I revised 2.58 to keep it off unless turned on purposely..

Sorry about that, but my CV feedrate was set high enough it never took affect, but I suspect
some may have sucky CV as a result of that being on all the time..

Thanks,
Art

Check your cv control in config and the cv feedrate on the settings page.

I wish I had read this and Patm's post more carefully.  Would have saved me an afternoon of frustration.

Spent my time doing clean installs of every version I had on file, trying to find why all of a sudden CV would not work.

Kept going back to CV settings on the Config page but did not realise about the "CV Feedrate" on the settings page.

Never noticed it before.  Certainly did not change it myself.  Must be doing that by it's self.  I'll know what to look for in future.  ;D

VB and the development of wizards / Re: Need help with new macro or wizard

Scott

Believe it or not the little I know about this VB stuff as used in Mach I have learned from you.  So thanks for your efforts.

I had a poke around and converted it to metric.  Haven't used it yet.  Just a learning exercise.  ;D

General Mach Discussion / Re: Question for Brian re new Video Window

Brian,

I downloaded and installed the latest version but it is still bassackwards?

Arnie

Have you tried the feature whereby once scale has been set you can place mouse pointer on a
position on the job and shift/left click and it will jog so that position is centered under the cross hairs.

Is this the reason the image is flipped/mirrored?

Finished Screens / Re: Mach SoftLight
« on: October 09, 2007, 06:12:00 PM »
I am very aware that you blokes are way way ahead of me in the advanced screen design business however this is what I did.

My needs are for a screenset to run on a 800 x 600 touch screen but what I did is made the screenset 790 x 520

This means there is no "scrunching" of my layout when displayed with standard windows bars top and bottom

Trial and error came up with the 790 x 520 dimensions that worked in my situation.

For other reasons I do not want "Auto Screen Enlarge" turned off but I also don't want it scrunching or stretching my standard screen pages.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Driver test problem
« on: September 30, 2007, 08:28:37 PM »

When I run the driver test the system will lock up in 2-3 seconds after it starts and I have to reboot.

Not to say your parallel port is not having problems but this driver test lockup does not indicate that.

Most parallel ports put out 3v. And most people don't realise this.

If you are using a break out board that is buffered or optoisolated that is not likely to be a problem.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Question for Brian re new Video Window

Brian

I have done some more playing with the Video Window.

Discovered the Shift/Left Click jogging.

It is labeled Shift/Right Click but it is the left button that works for me.

You have to make sure you orient the camera the correct way up. :D

Can the mouse pointer be made to go to the "Precision Select" mode when on the window?

I mean the cross hairs that are standard windows fair and set with control panel.

What would be great is to be able to adjust the cross hairs (the big video window one) to precisely align center.

These cheap web cams on a stick can be fiddly to get a precise and consistent alignment.

General Mach Discussion / Question for Brian re new Video Window
« on: September 18, 2007, 06:59:45 PM »
Brian I believe the new version of the Video Window is your creation.  Looks good. :)

Couple of questions,

Can it be made a re sizable window?  I use a small screen and it does not leave much room to see enough of the Mach screen behind.

Focus must still be returned to Mach before keyboard jogging will work.  I suppose nothing can be done about that.

It would appear that the problem we had with having to stop the video stream before closing is fixed. Is that right?

I had an issue where the camera driver I was using was working perfect with the old window but stopped working with the new one.

New driver had to be found and installed before it would work.  Don't know why that would be.

General Mach Discussion / Re: How to configure two motors in one axis?
« on: September 18, 2007, 05:09:45 PM »

Hi Greg, Actually I want to know both cases:
(1)   one lead screw, two motors "pulling the same way" (one CW at one end, and CCW at the other end).
(2)   Two motors two leads pulling in parallel (for the same way).

Is your explanation for the first case (1)?

Hey Greg, by the way ¿What does X++ means in Mach?, maybe I skip it in the manual. Don´t foget that I´m a newbie. ;D

                       Thank you   Jovimon

Jovimon

The explanation above was for case (2)  particularly the homing bit.

Case  (1) You would want the two motors and drives to be perfectly matched and as Brett said drive them from the same step and direction pin
I'm sure it has been done but I would be wary of two motors driving one screw.

X++ I take to mean jog at GO speed or a percentage of it as set on screen
