OK I ordered a couple of those.  Not much to lose if they're no good. 

Now what should I be looking for in a camera?

Resolution?  Compression? 

I see a lot of the webcams on ebay claim up to 8MP but in the specs are only 640 x 480

What sort of line laser is needed or recommended?

This is one cheap one I found.  Same as the cross one that I presently use for job setup.

What about a hot air plastic welding gun?

A small nozzle and the precise travel rate, distance from target and stepover provided by the CNC to get consistency.

Sorry to say this one seems less stable than the previous versions.

Cross hairs flicker on and off.

Settings will not come up.

Sounds like the .set file is not in the Mach3 directory.

Make sure it is, then Mach should remember which screenset was last used and load it at startup.

No worries I looked it up in a German dictionary.   

Don't remember this happening on earlier versions.

When using the frame view, it looks like it does not start at 0,0 or top left corner.

In about five pixels from the left and down one or two from the top.
