Thank you very much Klaus.

That was quick.  :)

That was only another example of why I would like it to remember window position and size.

I always drag the window to be a little larger than the size it opens at.  Just a personal preference.

I wondered if it would be difficult to have MachScreen remember its screen position and window size between sessions.

Every time I open it I must drag the Properties panel off where it sits obscuring the main screen.

Also I like to have a little black space around my screen so that I know I am seeing it all.  So I drag the window a little larger. Just a personal preference.

Love your editor.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Auto Zero
« on: November 01, 2009, 01:39:06 AM »
I tried the above posted script and do not get any compile errors.

However there are a couple of problems in its operation.

The first is that if you have G04 dwell time set to seconds in General Config, (the default setting) then 5000 seconds is too long to wait.  My coffee would go cold while I waited.

And if you have it set to MS, then the other G04 delays are so short as to be irrelevant.  Something like Sleep 100 would be more appropriate.

The other issue is, if a user started this script with Z axis DRO at say -6, then the first move will be in an unexpected direction.

I really hate it when a CNC machine I am operating does something I do not expect.  :)

Either zero the Z axis DRO prior to the G31, or do  G91 G31 Z-5  probe move.

Outstanding Kent.

I love how you profile cut them out rather than leave them in a frame.

Gives then another whole dimension.

Yes there is a lot of info about.  That thread and others.

One of the first things you will need to do is use an input not an ouput.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Backlash compensation for a rotary axis ?

I had ago at making lithophanes on a rotary axis.

Great little utility program this CNCWrapper, best twenty bucks I ever spent,   http://www.cncwrapper.com/

As i sometimes do, I made a Youtube video.   ::)

My partner saw this video and laughingly said "You sound really daggy!"

That's Australian slang, and most of you may not have heard that expression.

So to hear what it means to be a DAG or DAGGY, then watch the video.  ;D

For anybody who may have been interested Brian has confirmed what I thought,

that only A axis can be displayed correctly in toolpath window. Not B or C.

For as long as I have been doing 4th or rotary axis work on my router I have believed that Mach can
only represent A axis correctly in the toolpath window.  Not B.

It occurred to me that before I start advising others that this is the case, I had better check that I am not mistaken and just doing something stupid.

So my question to the experienced 4th axis users.  Can the toolpath window represent B axis toolpaths correctly or not?

Screen designer tips and tutorials / Re: height of title and menu bars?
« on: October 14, 2009, 09:33:18 PM »
All the standard Mach3 screens, and as far as I know, all the wizards (except for the latest one Ron did) are set out in such a way as to leave the bottom of the screen empty; leaving space for the standard windows task bar.

I think this is a good principal to follow especially if doing screens for others to use.

Again IMO there are valid reasons to shy away from auto screen enlarge. I don't expect others to share that opinion.   ;D
