Any help please?? This problem is really getting frustrating.

Good afternoon I have a question i'm sure one of you can help me with. I am building a new cnc mill. It is servo based. Bare in mind all my previous experience is with steppers. I'm using amt102-v encoders. When setting these up in Mach3 how do I go about getting this setup correctly? I have the encoder set to 500ppr. They are connected to kelinginc 850 oz/in servo motors DC, I'm also using the DG4S 8020 sold by cnc4pc.

So the designer needs a reset button and led to make everything else work properly?

When i create a screen and place a bitmap button on the screen It doesn't matter what code i choose, whether it is OEM or STD. Im tryng to get the button to cycle start, but it won't do anything when pressed. I have a GCode element and a toolpath element and a load gcode button. When i press the load button i can choose the gcode that i want to run but when i hit cycle start nothing happens.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Spindle calibration setup
« on: February 22, 2010, 08:36:04 AM »
Thanks Rich i have my steps per set at 2000 and my velocity set to 1350 accel is set at 400. Step and dir US is set at 4 this is the only way i can get the 0 to 10V needed for the spindle. I have tried different settings with out results when using the 1000 Steps per i get 7.8V max readout when running the motor. I have a bridgeport type clone and the variable drive pulley is set at 3300RPM and when i command M3 S1000 from Mach The spindle speed reads about 2000RPM and this is with my vfd reading 36.6hz. maybe i am doing something very wrong but this spindle calibration stuff is very complicated. Does anybody have any formulas for figuring this stuff out?

I am having problems getting my spindle calibrated i have it setup in mach and it runs with m3/m4/m5 commands but when i put in a value of say s1000 the actual spindle is running 1900 rpm. how can i get this running correctly. I was told that art posted how to manually enter the spindle curve as my setup is open loop right now. Please can someone shed some light on this problem.

General Mach Discussion / 4th Axis running to slow
« on: January 13, 2010, 08:06:59 AM »
When running my machine and have the 4th axis running it runs in snail mode you can barely see the thing turn a job that says it only takes 6 min to run is taking well over an hour. The funny thing is when i open the MDI screen and input G0 A360 it runs very fast but when the job is saying it is running at 15 IPM for cut feed the thing looks like it is barely moving can someone please help me out with this it is very frustrating.

Yes i was driving the fine feed before with the same gear reduction that i'm using now 1.65:1 20 tooth on motor 33 tooth on fine feed screw. How do i figure this out. I consider myself to be very mechanically inclined but i am not very mathematically inclined.
