General Mach Discussion / Mach 3 with 2 axis
« on: October 24, 2015, 05:00:26 PM »
Hello,

Does anyone know how I can set Mach 3 up to work with just 2 axis milling? Kind of like a prototrak. It will only be for a short time, until I get all the parts finished to get the z axis up and running.

Good afternoon I have a question i'm sure one of you can help me with. I am building a new cnc mill. It is servo based. Bare in mind all my previous experience is with steppers. I'm using amt102-v encoders. When setting these up in Mach3 how do I go about getting this setup correctly? I have the encoder set to 500ppr. They are connected to kelinginc 850 oz/in servo motors DC, I'm also using the DG4S 8020 sold by cnc4pc.

When i create a screen and place a bitmap button on the screen It doesn't matter what code i choose, whether it is OEM or STD. Im tryng to get the button to cycle start, but it won't do anything when pressed. I have a GCode element and a toolpath element and a load gcode button. When i press the load button i can choose the gcode that i want to run but when i hit cycle start nothing happens.

General Mach Discussion / 4th Axis running to slow
« on: January 13, 2010, 08:06:59 AM »
When running my machine and have the 4th axis running it runs in snail mode you can barely see the thing turn a job that says it only takes 6 min to run is taking well over an hour. The funny thing is when i open the MDI screen and input G0 A360 it runs very fast but when the job is saying it is running at 15 IPM for cut feed the thing looks like it is barely moving can someone please help me out with this it is very frustrating.

General Mach Discussion / Z Axis Problem Need Help Badly
« on: August 20, 2007, 06:04:47 PM »
I am having a problem with my Z axiz stalling. I just converted it to ball screw from the manual feed cnc. I didn't have any problems with the old setup as far as the axiz diving into metal without stalling but since the conversion i can't seem to get it to feed into the metal without stalling

My motor is a Sanyo Denki 720oz in motor 12-300VDC 6.0A with a 20 tooth gear on the motor and a 33 tooth gear on the ballscrew i have the steps per set at 16500 which is giving me the correct accuracy i just lost all sorts of torque what can i do to get this back

General Mach Discussion / Help with Motor tuning
« on: August 20, 2007, 09:17:06 AM »
I need some help getting my machine to cut parts accurately. I set my machine up the way i think that it should cut parts accurately by the manual but my parts are off by about .012 could some one please help me get this fixed as i am pretty new to this and am about to rip out my hair.

Machine specs:
I have a harbor Freight Big Green Round column Mill part number 33686
i Beliece the lead screw is 10 teeth per inch. I am using 1.65:1 Gear reduction

the stepper motors are 200 pulse i have Gecko G202 which i 10 Microstep drives

i believe it would be 200 * 10 = 2000

then i take my gear reduction
2000 * 1.65 = 3300
