Mach4 General Discussion / Mach 4 Feature Request
« on: May 02, 2014, 03:02:52 PM »
List any features you would like to see in Mach 4 in this topic. Lets keep it clean so Brian and Steve can see them at a glance without having to filter too much noise.

Mach4 General Discussion / Mach 4 Bug Reports
« on: May 02, 2014, 02:59:45 PM »
Lets use this topic to post any bugs we find in Mach 4. Lets keep this topic clean and to the point. This will be a list for Brain and Steve to work from. If you will list the operating system you are using and the steps or any other relevant information (Gcode, etc.) necessary to replicate the behavior you perceive as a bug that would go a long way in helping them narrow it down.

Thanks,
Brett

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Comments about Mach4 in Demo
« on: May 02, 2014, 02:52:29 PM »

Yes, this is a nice thing. Thanks for sharing, Craig.

But, could we keep this thread strictly for Mach4 bug reports and related comments? And open new threads for other topics. Otherwise the thread is getting cluttered with all sorts of other things and the bugs are getting missed by Brian and Steve and it's not leading to anywhere.

Dan

I just started two new topics, Mach4 bug reports and Mach4 wish list. I know everyone is enjoying all the comments but Dan does have a point. Brian and Steve have a ton of things going on right now and, as much as we want to hear all they have to say and want them to listen all we have to say, it would likely help them address our wants/needs if we had a couple of really clean threads.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Machine is possessed

I'm guessing you are skipping steps because your motors are not tuned correctly or you have mechanical slip somewhere. Make sure you do not have a loose coupling, pulley, pinion, etc. and de-tune your motors by 50% and see how it does.

Hey, what else can you say about Steve Stallings? His logic is flawless in more ways than one.  :)  I just moved to Windows 7 this past November myself so I too hate change. The only thing in the universe more consistent than gravity is change.

Mach4 General Discussion / Mach4 Announcements and updates.

Well after 3 years of work, 2 chairs, glasses, bad back, two PC's and no
life Mach4 has made it to the webpage. Mach4 is setup for 3 axis Mills
(it will run a 4th but we know it needs wrapping and so on added) in
this download without motion plugins. This was done so everyone could
test the new Screen interface MachGUI.exe. With this EXE you can play
with the new screen disign tools and see under the hood. We are working
with the motion people to get the motion devices tested and working 100%
before they are set out on the world. We don't know how long this
process is going to take but we will do it as quickly as we can.

Please feel free to comment on the screen and tell us what you would
like to see changed. The goal is to lock down the screen so we can start
making the operation manual for the screen/ software. We are working to
get some script examples done in the coming weeks and as soon as they
are done we will make an update to the Demo release on the web.

Please take the time to look at the Docs directory in the installed
folder. We have added an install and config manual as well as a Gcode
manual To help you with getting the software setup.

I am sorry this took us so long to get to this point but here we are ...
the end is near!
Thanks and have a great day.
Brian

Hobby Demo

The purpose of this Demo is to give users a look at Mach4 Hobby. It will not control the motion of motors.

- The current test version is for

3 Axis Mills and Routers
Simulated Motion Control
Getting a feel of Mach4
Testing the Screen Designer
Beginning to understand the major differences between Mach3 and Mach4
Support: No support is currently offered for this version. It is simply a release for users to play with Mach4. We welcome constructive feedback in the user forum so that we may improve the software.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Amateur question - mach3 with plc
« on: April 07, 2014, 11:10:37 AM »
Hello DeanoM,
You would communicate with the PLC via modbus. You would pass information to and from the PLC with macros, the macro pump, brains or a combination of those. We have tutor videos in our help and learning section and you can find lots of examples here on the forum. I'm not a big fan of brains myself and try to stick to macros/macro pump. I would also read the Mach3 programmers reference manual. It can be found in the manuals section of the help and learning page.

No, all of the old links are broke now. I just updated the links in my earlier post.
