Have you checked your backlash?

Hey Hood, thats no fair. I just figured out why I can't get up early enough to get one on you. You are 5 hrs ahead of me. Guess I'm a Geographically challenged fool. ;D

Hi Kevin,
Â   When you swapped the drives did you swap the blue push on connectors or leave them with the y axis? If you just pulled them off of the pin connectors and back on the other drive, rotate them 90 degrees and push on if space will permit. Does each axis have a separate power supply? Can you turn the screw for the y axis freely by hand?

Max, I forgot to mention, Mach 4 has been replaced by Mach 3 and the g100 plugin.

Your welcome Max,
I don't see where you will have any trouble getting Mach to do what you want. I just breezed over the pics. Mach is so versatile it's not even funny. It will most likely be a learning curve for you but not so sharp you won't get straightened out. If you get a little sideways, lots of people here to help get you straight. I do not understand all of the particulars of the Modbuss or PLCs in conjunction with Mach but I do understand you can have more IO than you can shake a stick at. One simple way to get 56 more inputs is with an IPac keystroke emulator. A lot of bang for the buck. http://www.ultimarc.com/ipac1.html Mach will work with all sorts of hardware. From cheaper (in price, not quality) hobby type hardware to PLCs and such. You just have to figure out which way you are going to go and head that way. I would choose Mach any day of the week.

Yes, that is true.  I'm no expert so I will try to explain the best I can. Imagine you are at a water park with all of the half pipe slides that cross each other, run parallel at times, over, under. One has a dedicated pool of yellow water, the other has a pool of blue water. With all of the traffic and splashing eventually they would both end up with green water. Now, shielded cable, proper arrangement and layout would equal putting the other half of the pipe on top, sealing them off from one another. Yellow stays yellow and blue stays blue now. Different power sources, frequencies,AC, DC they are all different color slides. I hope this helps.

I agree, I got my drives hot once, I forgot the fan, and it went insane. Cooled them off, problem solved. I say this hesitantly because you have defiantly been talking to some of the gurus allready. I'm not so sure you aren't dealing with a noise issue. You certainly would not be the first. Can you post some more pics. of your cabinet and wiring? Even on the machine.

Max, where you been? Haven't you heard? All things are possible...................with Mach. ;D No really, I'm not familiar with this machine. Could you post some pics. on the show and tell? I'm sure some of the guys already know but I like to figure stuff out. How is it operated manually? Is it push a button and hydraulics actually do the changing or what?

It all depends. I do everything from thick tool steel with a 3/4" end mill to v carving acrylic .013" deep. Because of the heavy tool loads I run a much lower accel than I could get away with on the light stuff. Hey, I just thought of something indirectly related to something myself and another member have talked about, different profiles. This guy is sharp. I won't mention his name but his initials are Hood. ;D One for light and one for heavy tool loads. I would go as high as I could without skipping steps. The higher the accel. the better, or easier tuning in your cv mode would be. I think. I think I remember reading somewhere, keep bumping up until you just start to loose steps and back off 10%.

Your welcome John,
Â  Glad you got going. Post some pics. of your cuts on the design exchange. ;D
Out of curiosity, what accel. are you having luck with now?
