Read reply # 4 in the thread you posted yesterday. It tells you how to do it with the G100 or a parallel port. Only the first sentance is about the gamepad. I have quoted it here for you. You will have to go to the thread to see the screen shots.

OK here is wht you do to set a button up as jog. In config, ports and pins, inputs, oem triggers, these are the pins you will use. Go to config, system hot keys and assign the button you wired the OEM codes you want. I have attached a few screen shots to help.

I can dial-indicate and inch back and fourth, and it appears to accurately locate back to zero each time.

This is not checking the backlash, only repeatability. You will only see backlash when it changes directions. Put the indicator on something solid. Jog your axis until you move the indicator to a reading of about half of its travel. Write down the reading on the indicator. Jog the axis in the other direction by a set amount, say .010" and see how much difference the indicator shows. If the indicator says you moved .005 and Mach says it has moved .010 then you have .005" backlash.

OK, you have to figure out how many revoloutions the motor had to make before to move the z any determined distance. 1/2 inch, 2 inches, no matter. We can figure it out form there. If you were driving the fine feed before and only driving a ball screw now, you will need to know the reduction of the fine feed. You can figure this out. I have sent you a personal message.

My setup before was i had the same gears going to the fine feed

Were you driving the fine feed before and direct driving now? If so, we have to do some more math. If not, to get the same torque you will need to gear it 3.3-1.

Jerry, I looked at some of the code, it looks good. I have sent you a personal message.

Robert, Do you see the soft limits lines in your tool path screen? The roadrunner will have to be inside of this box to run the code without hitting the softlimits. Jog your machine to the center of your table, zero your dros, regen tool path. Now jog it to a corner and do the same. SAee how it moves the road runner around on the table?
