Mach3 and G-Rex / Re: G100 crashing?

Thanks for the kind words 123cnc, :)
This is a great group and everyone works hard to get things done. I don't see how Art and Brian keep up with everything as fast as it moves. No one is perfect, but Artsoft and Gecko really stand behind their products. Everyone screws up sometimes, it is how they handle it that makes the difference.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Z axis move that should not be there

Is it in your code to move the z? If not, check your safe z settings. Also, post your code with a note of where you think it is going wrong.

Look in general config and lower your shuttle accel. Try it at .01 and .005. you may need to up your backlash speed as well. To verify your problem, disable backlash comp and try it in the air. Do you still get the pause?

2) The jog speed has slowed down to half or less than before even though it is set at 100%
Hmmmmmmmm, is your motor tuning the same? Have you hit the tab key to see waht it is set at on the MPG screen?

3) The screen size has been reduced like when you change the screen resolution to a higher setting.
Look in general config to see if auto screen enlarge is checked.

As far as the PC, copy and paste this in the search field an do a search.

min pc requirements

Several topics there. As far as setting it all up, look at the tutorials tab at the top of this page. Also, there are lots to help out here on the forum. Be prepared for a learning curve. It's not bad though and you will know all about it when you are done. I have sent you a personal message.

Brad, I don't know if you can use soft limits without home switches. What are your machine coords. when you jog to your limits? On the program run screen, click on the button that says machine coord. Also, in config, ports and pins, mill options. Is homed true when no home limits checked? You might want to imulate some home switches and try that. I have never tried any of this without home switches so maybe someone who has will kick in.

It looks like all you need is a breakout board and a PC  :), windows based with Mach loaded.

Mach3 and G-Rex / Re: Feed Rate Overide on G100

Hey John,

I must admit that I was confused as I am not using ModBus (yet) and am not trying to control a spindle.
The FRO is traditionally used to speed up or slow down the running speed of a Gcode program by manually turning a knob on a potentiometer

I understand. Modbus is just how you do it with the G100 I assume. I hope to play with this soon and hopefully I can help you more then.

I have sent you a personal message.

Hey John, Got some help off line, try this and let me know how it does.  On the spindle setup tab in ports&pins, enable modbus spindle speed, at register 64. That should be all thats required.
