Check in the version you are running now (2.41) in general config., upper left, tool change option. Remember how it is set. Ignore, auto, wait,. Also, look at your M6 start and M6 end macros in the VB editor for the profile that does what you want it to. You may want to save those in a safe place. Are you running a macro pump? If so, save a copy of it as well and look in general config, close to center screen and see if run macro pump is checked.

Are you using Mach2 or Mach3? Microstepping shouldn't reduce torque at all. It should only increase your resoloution. This may make your steps per second go into a higher KHz range to still get the rapids you want. This may cause problems.

I'm not sure what one will do if it has no firmware loaded. All of my dir. lights come on brightly and a very dim analog out.

Yup, it is a stand alone program. It is just to help pick the right servo for the application. It is a free download. Cooperhill technologies are the arthurs. You can find it at automation direct, about half way down on the home page, servos link. It will take you to a sure servo page with a link to software or downloads, can't remember.

Lou, sounds like you are in step mode rather than cont. jog mode. Pull the MPG screen by hitting your tab key and see if it is in cont. mode.
