Ostie, I had nothing but trouble from a wireless connection on my machine PC. It would even cause the blue screen of death. I have heard of many having great success with wireless, but it didn't work for me at all. I never narrowed it any further than the wireless connection though. It was too easy to run a cable and do away with it. I was using a D-link USB adapter. I would even get the blue screen of death. What brand is the card you've been trying?

Also, are you certain it isn't harmonics coming from the spindle? I have heard this many many times on large industrial machines. It makes no sense to me how a spindle running at 10,000 rpm can emit a sound with peaks and lows in a 2-5 sec. cycles, but it is very familiar.

Also, I think the pulse rate should be set to 25KHz. Can't remember for sure but think other settings there may skew the DROs.

dingbatca, Have a look at Rogers machine i think it is. He has an encoder interface board and a plug-in that will do what your looking for I think. If nothing else, it may help you see some posobilities.
