Bill, I had a problem with the connectors on a gecko once. Sounds similar to your problem. The wires were connected fine it was where the connectors made contact with the header pins on the drive. Maybe you can give it the wiggel test? Next time your jogging manually, try wiggling the black connectors on the gecko and see if it stumbles. I got lucky and actually saw it ark a couple of times.

Your right RICH. Both the speed setting and shuttel accel effect the speed it takes up backlash. I'm not exactly sure how each relates but are both related to it. I wonder if the shuttel accel sets the ramp or time it will take to get to the speed set in the backlash config box? Art or Brian suggested the shuttle accel setting once I'm pretty sure and it was one of those things that stuck. LOL

I think what is probably happening at 200% is it was trying to move that fast but would skip steps. Ususally you can get away with this because while takeing up backlash the only load it should be trying to move is very small but depending on where the backlash is comeing from, I can see where it may cause a problem. Those suggestions are only the ones I have seen a lot of sucess with and they are only a strating point I suggest. All set ups are different so lots of times the settings will vary.

This is great Ed. I watched the video and like a kid at Christmas looking forward to the others.

I may have found a problem but it may well be on my end. I just got C++ A beginners guide and I think I'm on page 8. Here is what I saw in the build log.

.\Demo2.rc(10) : fatal error RC1015: cannot open include file 'afxres.h'.
