If you click on the jog mode button in the mpg flyout does it go to cont.?

Also, in the attached picture at the bottom is the slow jog feed rate DRO.  Clicik in it, it will change colors, enter a value, HIT ENTER.  Should change colors again and value you entered should stick.

belin, have you checked to see if your machine is moving the proper distance?  If you give it a move in gcode or jog a given distance does it travel that distance?  You can set a ruler on the table to get a good idea.

Here is a link to a thread that may help with Lazycam belin.

Very good points and a lot to digest.

It would be interesting to know the formula used to come up with the draw bar pull force required.  It undoubtedly uses surface area/vs tool load. Another good thing to point out here I think is the importance of keeping the spindle taper and tool holders clean and free of surface rust and dings. Nothing will undermine this like an unseated tool spinning inside the spindle.............. that makes for a bad day.  >:(  I have seen a lot of routers in particular that seem to be abused in this way.

I have used this before.

http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/wood-density-d_40.html

I don't know how accurate that will be really because of growing variables but it should get you with in a reasonable range.  You could also just measure and weigh and account for moisture content or its probably overkill but you could do a displacement vs weight test.  Maybe vaccum seal the wood in a known size bag and sink it in a pan of water and measure the amount of water that gets displaced.  I wouldn't think you would need that at all unless you were trying to measure odd shaped pieces.

Tweakie, have you done any test or comparisons with the different woods and their surface finish, density and moisture content?  I'm just thinking if those 3 variables were monitored maybe a formula could be created to give consistant results.

You do some of the neatest stuff Tweakie!

If the steps per can be divided equally into your desired resolution is the first thing I would shoot for (with in reason).   Sounds like your fine there.  I like them as smooth as possible but if it is slowing you down too much at the finer res. you may want to run it at fewer steps per.  I think in your case you would be fine either way but that's totally up to you.  If the noise and coarser resolution are a fair trade to you for the speed you should be fine.
