General Mach Discussion / What is the best spindle encoder?
« on: December 18, 2009, 08:09:57 PM »
I am about to convert one of my lathes and one bridgeport mill to cnc and I was wondering what is the best spindle encoders for each, and the best breakout board for each also,or can they both use the same ones?

Any help would be great.

Thanks Mike

Hey Peter, Another question with that encoder what do you need for it to read on the spindle?
I think you mount it so that it reads something on the spindle. Is this correct?

Thanks Mike

I am starting my lathe conversion and I need to know what I need to purchess for the spindle encoder to use with mach 3 software.
Also do I need any thing else with the encoder to like a eletrical board or does the encoder just go to the parallel port?

Any advice would reall be great!!!!
