Depending on the lenght of your cables and the drivers for your motors, there is a good chance that your problem stems from the drivers. Stepper motors have resonance at certain phase angles. Advanced stepper drivers use algorithms to dampen this resonance. Any play in the drive mechanism will result in a loud chatter of the motors. The cable length is also a factor as is the conducter size. The fact that the chatter is at vector changes indicates free movement in the drive mechanism. In some cases it would require the change of your drivers. Also the fact that the chatter is less with increase of microstep ratio points to the resonance as the most probable cause.

Fred, firstly I do not know the Dyna 2800, so if I type something stupid, just ignore it. I am going to attempt helping. Have you got backlash on any of the axis? I need to establish this before proceeding. Also check for loose ballscrew worm etc on any of the axis. It may sound irrelevant, but trust me, there is relevance.

Thanks Hood,

I could implement them through VB but still don't know what they meant for originally.

General Mach Discussion / Gamepad FRO incrementing
« on: December 19, 2007, 05:48:22 PM »
I'm using a gamepad with two buttons used as increment/decrement the FRO using Keygrabber and OEM Button codes 108 and 109. But I cannot find where to change the increment/decrement value. It stays fixed on 10%. I'm missing something, I have tried DRO's as per documentation, but there is not enough information. Another question, What is OEMButton's 100 and 101 for? It is called Inc Inc Up and Inc Inc Down. I've been Incing on them and watching DRO's I have added that I thought might be relavent, but alas, the incing is evading me!
