General Mach Discussion / Re: CAPACITIVE DECOUPLING OF tHE 20KHZ SIGNAL

The circuit I sent to Art is erronous, I have sent the corrected schematic to to post on the ftp server. My apologies, to all.
I'm not too sure when Art will post it but the filename will have "revised" appended to it.

Whacko for apologies!

Do you need to change the fro on the fly? If not you can type in the feedrate on the MDI page. Or just drag the slider. Disregard this if you need a pendant type of feed control. Then a modbus is the best way to go. Check the links page. HOMANN does a nifty modbus. I can do a simple feedrate only using a small pincount PIC MICRO. If you have access to programmer for PIC MiCRO's, let me know. If not, I can burn a chip, send it as a kit. That's the cheapest way.

Can you post a typical gcode file that you use?

How many steps per unit for A axis have you specified? You need to setup the amount of steps relevant to the rotation.

Can you be more specific? I'm not too sure what your goal is.

I havn't done this yet but you should be able to have up/down with two input pins, some vb running a timer and countdown or count up of the fro.
I have an analogue through modbus, which I think is the better way to do it, and save some input pins on the lpt port.
If there is enough demand for just a modbus feedrate device, I could manufacture it. It would cost much less than a complete modbus system.

I suggest you watch the Inputs-Outputs.swf video. That would enlighten you about the workings of Mach3 inputs and outputs. It is also covered in the Mach3 documents on Art's website. You would want to configure two input pins for up/down.

Is this a motor tuning issue? Have you tried changing the acceleration parameters?

I am not sure what you mean, do you want a direction resolver? There has been some confusion on my side with a previous post. What do you mean with "it wants to move within 1 degree ". Do you have a tolerance margin of 1 degree?

Art has added the circuit schematic to the ftp site. The link to view the file is: ftp://machsupport.com/ExtraInformation/20KHZ_WATCHDOG.JPG
This circuit can tolerate a wide range of frequency and can be modified for 5KHZ by changing the Capacitor values from 10 nf to 20 or more nf. I designed it and use it all the time with good results. The circuit will lockout on about one or two pulses. The signal will go low regardless of the port pin state.
