through the many searches i've done on this, i came across the pixie and yapsc. The pixie looked like it would do the job, typical, and the yapsc looks unbelievably technical. The dspmc is a bit pricey compared to a drive change, i'll have a nose at the others. Any idea on pricing for the galil or kflop.

or convert the s+dir signals to whatever the drive normally needs

I've spent an hour on the phone with Baldor, who are exceptionally helpfull, and eventually found the correct manual for these drives. So it's either an adaptor card for the three drives or new drives,

PS. the motors are baldor bsm63a-275aa ac brushless servos.

Hi Hood, it's a baldor dbsc 1102 baa, but there are several versions of this type, and the type i have does not support step + direction only pulse follower. The next version up does.

General Mach Discussion / step + direction to run a servo

Hi, a while back i saw a post with a link to an adaptor that converted step + direction signals (mach3) to run a servo through the encoder input. Does anyone remember this or can give me a link to one.

Thanks.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Relative motion of cutter to table

as far as homing is concerned try to get the "Y" axis to home towards you.

The "Z" axis to home so the tool is as far away from the table as possible.

The "x" at one end of it's travel.

A good guide of tool motion, is to hold your left hand out in front of you and point to the machine with your index finger, then put your thumb up and point your second finger to the right. This is the positive motion of the tool, with your thumb being "Z", your index finger is "Y", and the second finger is "X".

Every license holder has a right to comment on the misuse of licenses, whether they have a direct link to the thread or not.

Mach3 is exceptionally cheap for what you get, and the support that this forum gives is priceless.

As far as "not being happy with paying $150 at this time for the license" is frankly ridiculous.

You want help, pay for your own personal license, and the last thing you should do is give some attitude when your challenged about it.

This is a pretty close community, and we all try to help as much as we can. If you expect to sit in this community then you have a great amount of back peddling to do.

There are complete units available that take the worry and possible heartache out of this.
