You really need to get in the control box to see what type of spindle controller you have. A pic of the insides will help.

ok, there are normally two functions required to run the spindle.

1. A relay will be energised to enable the spindle.

2. a signal is sent to an analogue board to vary the speed.

start the spindle in mach and listen for the relay activation.

i have no excuse as i converted the same lathe about a year or so ago. Not that i do anything on the lathe to keep it in my mind.
