Hi Tweekie, I have the same problem as John05 and not you sent him his reply was.
Hello Tweakie,  Thank you very much for the link you sent for the Mach optimization txt. .  It worked excellent. I have everything up and running.I don't know exactly what part of the optimization made it work because I only did the following steps.6,7,11,12,16,20,21,22,23.Once again, thank you and I thank everyone for their help.

John
Is it possible to send me the same link to see if it sorts out my problem with the motors not responding, I to have had to change my PC and the new one runs Windows 7 the old system ran XP for several years without any problems

General Mach Discussion / Turning

Hi I have been using Mach 3 for some time on my CNC router however I am building a cnc lathe and would like to know what is required to draw and create g codes to send to Mach 3.

I use Vetric Aspire for my cnc router so is there a similar software at a reasonable cost for turning.

Thanks in advance
Ray

General Mach Discussion / Re: Z axis problem

Hi Hood, I have sorted it, I went to operator section then restore settings and that did the trick.

Somewhere down the line I must have pressed the wrong button to cause my problem.

Thanks again

General Mach Discussion / Z axis problem
« on: June 30, 2012, 11:00:51 AM »
Hi All, I have been using Mach 3 for a few years without any problems until now.

I was setting the motor turning for my new stepper motor on the z axis ( it is the same motor as on the X & Y axis) the first run went fine but the distance moved was wrong so I did another run and this is when it all went wrong.

When I hit run the motor moved but it never stopped until it hit the E stop and I had set it to move 20mm. I went  back to program mode and tried the movement on the Z axisi to find the motor moved as normal but no reading as to the position.

I have checked all settings and cannot find anything wrong, accept for when running the diagnostic screen  where it shows "output current state for port 1 has only two green lights showing and I am assuming that there should be three one for each axis ?

I may well be missing something obvious but I cannot find anywhere to put this right.

Any ideas to solve this would be much appreciated.

General Mach Discussion / Re: configuration issues?

Hi, I have a problem with the z axis, I have been using mack 3 for a few years without any problems but I have just upgraded my routers z setup.

The problem happened  when I was setting the steps for the new stepper motor, ( the same motor that is on the X & Y ) I was calibrating the travel and set what I wanted the distance to be, the first try went ok but the travel was wrong so I did the calibration again and this is where it all went wrong I put the distance I wanted it to move and hit ok and the motor just kept on turning and I could not stop it, I had to hit the E stop and since then I have no output to the Z axis.

I thought I had blown the Z axis board on my driver so I changed that but the fault is still there ie no output to the Z axis.

Can anyone give me some idea what is going on, I have tried all I can an I am at a loss
