I have a client that wants to wire a switch to his enclosure.  I need to see if I can wire the switch on a input pin (15)  When the door is opened, it will trigger the pin.  I want the machine to stop.  it is running off of a UC100, so an Estop may loose position due to the buffer.  If a feed hold can be commanded, the machine can run out the buffer and stop the machine.  A dwell for a few seconds can allow the buffer to finish out then turn off the spindle./

Any ideas on how to do this?

Why are you hitting RESET????????????  To start and stop what?

The boarders around the axis`s tell you the machine has been referenced.  If they go away or turn off, that means in that cycle of things....like after a RESET...... it no longer knows where they reff point is.  Which also means that soft limits will not work either.

If you are using an external motion controller other then the printer port, Feed hold will have to run the buffer out of the motion controller before it stops the machine.  This could be a couple of seconds worth of movement.
I get asked this question alot with the UC100/300`s and smoothsteppers (both USB and Ethernet).

The buffer has to run out so that there is no position errors when everything comes to a halt.

This was years ago.  I do not recall the version number.  I had a sherline rotary which had 800 steps per.  I had the motor tuning ALOT faster then the others.  There was no need to have it tuned that fast as it was only stepping a very small amount.  my best uneducated guess was the amount of resources it took to process the velocity of the A, When X moved it freaked.  Sounds alot like the OP`s description.

If youa re still having the issue with the X movement error after an A axis move.  I have experienced an issue a few years ago while trying to do 3D rotary machining.  My A axis was tuned alot faster then my other 3.  This caused the X axis to stall and or freak out as soon as the A axis stopped its rotation and the X axis was asked to move.

I think there is a work coordinates setup error on the user end.

I have use Vectric Aspire with a 3040 router and mach3.  no issues.

Where and how are you zeroing your WORK zero points?  Are you moving the tool over a corner and zeroing X and Y work cords.?  Z Axis zeroed with the endmill on the top of the part?  If you are trying to use the HOME position to run the G code from it will never work.

wait....... putting the horse before the cart here.  If the jogging is all correct, then the issue may be in the code or how the machine is zeroed out.  Post the code and a picture of the machine in the x y z zero state.

on the jog control screen.  The left button should make the spindle go left, right button it goes right.  for X
up button the spindle goes to the back of the machine or away from you in y.  down button it comes to the front of the machine.

Z up it should go up...... Z down it should go down.  If any of these are backwards while jogging, you can change the DIR low active, or go to CONFIG Homing/Limits and change the setting in the reversed column for that axis.

You have to have these right first before a G code can run as expected.

it is never "that simple"   as a matter of fact, its not easy at all.  Hell if it was easy everybody would be doing it.
Running a CNC machine no matter how big or small is not as simple as loading material and pressing go.

There are several aspects from Drawing the part in CAD, to creating toolpath in CAM to setting up the machine to run the toolpath.   This stuff is not easy.
learn in baby steps.

one other thing I have noticed that with add in LPT cards.  Sometimes you have to chase the address down.  You have 4 I/O ranges for that card.  I have had to try each IO range address one at a time until I found the one that activated the card.
