General Mach Discussion / Gecko G540 ports and pins XML file
« on: September 18, 2008, 08:24:26 PM »
anyone have a working XML file for a G540?  All I get is a fault light  and I need to get the pins set before I pack it up and send it back......
screenshots or something of what ports for what are set......
Getting a new bald spot here......

Hood, that was it.  sent him my file and all is well.  Thanks bud!

i dont use spindle m03 on mine either.  but if I go into the diag screen and type m3 in the mdi line.  I get the output 1 led  flashing.
also if I click on the spindle toggle button  I get the output led flashing.

On his neither the spindle toggle or the m03 command in MDI triggers any output led

Helping a friend.  We noticed that the m03 code will not turn his spindle on.  pressing the spindle toggle button does.
M08 will turn on his coolant.  As will the coolant toggle button.

After playing around in output signals  i changed pin number around for coolant and spindle.  m08 will turn on the spindle  but m03 will not turn on the coolant.

I played with outputs moving them all around and no matter what output number I put for spindle (m3)  I cannot get this function to work.  also when typing in MDI  m03  the corrisponding output led does not light up  like when I type m08.  When typing m08 i can see the output led come on.

Any ideas?

again I should note that with the ports and pins configured in the latest xml file I posted (With them setup correctly) the probe and Z switch do work.  But the X and Y do not.  With none of the switches hooked up to the controller the leds light up as if there is a switch present and active.  With the switches plugged in there is no change.  The switches he has have LEDS on the switch to show that they are activated.  With the switch activated  (X or Y) nothing changes in the diag screen of mach.   I believe it is a issue with the controller.  But we are just trying to exhaust the software possibilities.

if you can get away from the 1/4-20 screws I highly recommend it!  I have 1/4-20 acme screws on my maxnc machine and I can tell you this,  if one of your backlash nuts locks up the screw will bend easy!   Also with the 20 tpi screws you in theory get more accuracy but sacrifice speed.  The maxnc type of machines are soo poorly built that any accuracy you gain from the higher tpi screws is lost in the flex of the machine.  Remember that accuracy is in the SUM of all components!
