General Mach Discussion / Mach offseting my work
« on: May 06, 2011, 01:28:51 PM »
Hello.

Could someone tell me why Mach is offsetting my work with 1mm on X and Y axis in the positive direction?

Here is what I do. I mill the X edge og material, my router bit is 3mm in diameter, so I type X -1.5 in the X DRO. I do the same on Y axis. I didnt use the touch off plate, to minimize...my mistakes/settings.
The milled part ( a square) has the right dimensions,  but its milled 1mm from where I expect it to be, in the North - East direction from Zero.
I have been reading the last 2 weeks and cant find the answer.

G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / VisualMill bridges ?
« on: November 13, 2010, 03:03:55 PM »
Hello

Im running simulations in VisualMill, adding tabs/bridges (2,5D profiling) to keep my part inside the material, but all 3D toolpaths are milling the bridges away.  Is it normal? When I choose outline of my part as a machining region and run 3d finish path with a ballmill, there is a little bit of the briges left ( not enough), because my tool stops when it reach the machining region, but if I choose the region a little bit outside the part, the bridges are gone.
How can I keep the part inside my material or just the same place?  I don`t have any holes in the part, its just a 3d surface.

Hello

Is it ok to connect all home and limit switches and the emergency stop in serial and connect them to one port?
I can´t see why not.
The only thing is that I wouldn´t be able to see which switch is beeing trigered, but I don´t use this feature anyway. It´s easy to find out which one of them it is.

The other thing is that I don´t have much room left in my energi chain :-)

General Mach Discussion / XY and Z zero
« on: June 03, 2009, 05:13:10 PM »
Hello

I`m playing with my little router milling blue foam and learning. I just made a Z touch PCB plate and it works great.

But how to zero the X and Y axis?

I used my eye and moved the X axis so the edge of my router bit was touching the material. I did the same with the Y axis and zeroed them.  I was expecting to mill 1 mm around my material, but the first 2 edges was not milled, and the opposite 2 edges was milled 2mm.
Here is my milling video  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AXxEmQW-Ro

Is the X and Y zero not where the tool touches the material?

Can I get any help how to zero the X and Y axis?  I like the PCB idea - how can I use it to zero the X and Y axis? I`ve seen it on youtube somewhere, but without a description.

General Mach Discussion / feed rate question
« on: May 25, 2009, 06:21:24 PM »
Hello

I´m having problems with feed rate.  I don`t have much experience with cnc, but which program has the final priority when you choose the feedrate?
I can see you can change it in the Cam software, tool options and Mach3.
Right now I use blue foam to learn it, so it is "save" to use.

I loaded a Gcode today, and the feedrate override led was on. Does it mean that the motors will run faster then I wrote in the Motor tuning window? Is it possible?

Mach SDK plugin questions and answers. / 2 joysticks
« on: May 21, 2009, 01:31:32 PM »
Hello

I will try to ask in this thread.

I fly RC model airplane, and I have this Simulator thing to controll RC flying models simulators (USB) - its very cheap.

It works with the joystick plugin for Mach3 and moves X and Y axis, but I still have 2 axis left.  Is there a plugin for four axis joystick or 2 joysticks?  I could be fun to move the XYZ axis with it, and maybe use the last axis for controlling feedrate or spindle speed. The last axis is used to controll the motor on RC planes, so it has no spring and does not return to the center.

I would love to make a new box for that kind of a controller

General Mach Discussion / Mach3 simulation
« on: May 19, 2009, 03:09:08 PM »
Hello

If I install the Mach3 on my home PC, without the router or BOB, will it work? I just want to play with screens.

Will it be possible to run a program without BOB and a router?

Hello

Im`trying to make the Touch plate Autozero Z axis like in this thread http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36099
but im a newbee and can`t find any of this. I use Mach3 version 3.*********.

Could you guide me in the right direction?

Where is the Screen utility, how do I put the "user DRO"  and a LED in the screen, what is Screen4?

I cand find any of this items in Mach3.

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Help with Mach3 config.
« on: April 26, 2009, 08:46:06 AM »
Hello

I was trying to cofigure Mach3 for my new router. After a couple of hours I typed G0X1. The axis moved 2,5 cm - that is one inch. Im a metric user so I`ve change on top of the Config menu from inches to millimeters. A massage came up, that its only for motortuning, but i`m not shure what it means.  It doesn`t change anything. It still moves 25mm. My machine needs 500 step to move 1 millimeter. Thats what I wrote in the Motor tunnig menu.

Then I loaded a Gcode of a Nameplate that is 150mm wide, but on the display it was probably wider then 1000mm - it was outside my table and larger then my router. I suppose I can se my table size because I`ve type the software limits?

What am I doing wrong?

General Mach Discussion / Feed Rate
« on: March 04, 2008, 01:23:05 PM »
Hello

I`m not exactly sure what I`m doing, but I did mill today for the first time :)

If my blue foam was more level I could mill the rest of the letter.

But it took over 7 min to mill.  How can I change the Feed Rate? The on screen Feed Rate is 60 and 100% and it wont change. It always resets to the old value.
When I use the Shift+arrows it moves much faster.
