BIG yes on upping the voltage.
I went from 17 to 24 and it made a HUGE differance.

I ordered my X/Y kit from Industrial hobbies (Over 2 years ago) and the optical limits werent included.
Ive sent him several emails asking what a pair would cost but never got a reply.
Oh well.
I can make some up in time.

Do you have the "Softlimit" option selected ?
That will slow the axis down to a crawl just before contact.
After starting the machine be sure and do a reference all first.
I started out with those small switches too.
Amazing what a 460 Ounce servo can do to em  ;D

Sure Linux can be had free ,, but wait !!!  you have to pay for the PC to load it on !!!

Hate to dig up an old thread but this may help other noob's having the same issue.

I too had the intermittent switch thing.
I found out it was the X home switch by starting the job and switching to the diag screen
and just stare at the switch led's.

my X switch blinked for a microsecond but thats all it takes.
I bumped the debounce up to 2500 and all is well.
I have some better quality switches now and will be installing them soon.
