When ever i start mach3 and post the code below it looks great, however when I start Mach3 in Sherline (metric) mode it looks like the attached image.

does anyone know why?

Thanks,

Andy

Hello,

I have been googleing around looking for a CNC lathe that can cut threads small threads 12.2mm external to about 6.4mm internally.  However the only one I can find is a Wabeco for around £7000.

I was hoping to have a #2 morse taper, a tool turret would be nice however I am guessing that it would be too pricey.  The main thing would be single phase supply.  I would consider paying around £2000

I don't know if I am asking for too much for too little money.

Any help would be appreciated,  I have time as my workshop will be finished (laying a new floor  :)) around December time.  Will look to buy then.

Thanks,

Andy

General Mach Discussion / Code window does not show all the code...
« on: September 17, 2008, 11:38:39 AM »
Hello,

After Generating some code in a cam program I then save the file as a Tap ->  load it into Mach 3 Turn.  -> the file works great untill the last 10 or 20 lines.

I am using the demo version and the code only has 160 lines.

Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Andy

LazyCam (Beta) / Can lazycam turn?
« on: August 14, 2008, 11:45:17 AM »
Can LazyCam import dfx to be turned?  I have watched the Milling video's however there is no instruction on how to turn.

I have not upgraded to a fully licenced version yet ( I intend to).

I have been watching the development of Lazy turn with interest but I dont think it is going to be ready for a while.

Can I use LazyCam instead? IF so are there any instructions on using it for turning?

Thanks,

Andy

Hello,

I am looking to Gcode a basic arc, however I have no idea where to start, I have written taper, and (thanks to Graham) doubble tapers so I suppose an arc is the next logical progression.  I know they use the I and K values however this is the limit of my knowledge.

If anyone has a straighfoward example they could share or code somthing up quickly that would be great.

I am useing a small sherline cnc lathe.

Cheers,

Andy

G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / Double taper
« on: May 17, 2008, 12:41:14 PM »
Hello,

I am trying to program a double taper in G-code.  I am having some difficulty understanding how the angle works.  I can make one sided taper like the wizard, however I want to go back the other way like this :

<>

The decending taper would be varying in size and shape eventually but for the moment I would like to be able just to mirror the existing taper.

Thanks,

Andy

General Mach Discussion / Turn Newbie
« on: March 19, 2008, 11:02:48 AM »
Hi There I am new to Mach 3.

I would like to input a diameter of a part into mach 3 turn and then input a diameter that I want the machine to turn the part down to.  I have looked at the wizards and cannot see this, I current set an x start and end with a z start and z end.

Help,

Thanks,

Andy

LazyCam (Beta) / Newbie Turn help!
« on: March 10, 2008, 08:46:20 PM »
Hi Everyone,

It was all going so well, I have set up mach 3 and everything is moving before my eyes as I press the arrow keys.

Now i am stuck.  What I am trying to do is make a pen, I have drawn the part in Alibre free version (Just a simple cylinder).  I load this into lazycam and everything is fine (not a 100% sure but I can see the part).

I get a tap file and load it into mach3 and there is a rectangle,  When I start mach3 it runs through the file but as a mill would with powered tools following an out line.

I would like to make is a pen, however if this was a pen blank then it would 'smash' right into the blank.  Some how I need to get LazyCam to account for the wood and don't know how.

I have been going at this CNC stuff for about a week and it is slowly all clicking into place  ;D

Thanks,

Andy
