I'm replacing the cable from my pendant.
It has a MPG and a E stop on it.
The old cable is breaking down and insulation is crumbling.
Also, a straight cable would be easier to use instead of the coiled.
Does the new cable new to be shielded?
Thanks,
Jack

General Mach Discussion / E stop won't reset on mach3
« on: July 16, 2022, 01:43:12 PM »
Hello,
I have a Hurco mill that was retrofitted in 2011.
It has ran great over the years.
After sitting idle (no power) for about 5 months, when I power it on the Estop won't  reset.
Both Estop buttons and wiring check ok.
The Estop light on my control panel stays lit up, and the main screen 'reset flashes'.
It has been so long since  I've  messed with the pins and settings in mach.
Can someone tell me which pins in the settings I can check/reset/ toggle?

Thanks  so much.

I recently had a scare where my computer that ran mach3 on my mill was acting up.
There is a copy of my .xml file on a jump drive, but since the build was so long ago, what screen pics. would be helpful?
My thoughts were to take a pic of each screen  with the current settings, too.
Any other advice or shortcuts  to help with this procedure.

Thanks,
Jack

General Mach Discussion / Wanting to upgrade mach 3 to a newer version
« on: October 14, 2021, 08:57:55 PM »
My mill is using an older ( licensed) version of mach 3.
It seems that it's  around a 2010-2011  year edition. At the time of my retrofit, it was the latest edition.
It the past there was a few problems where the spindle wouldn't  reverse in auto tapping, etc.
What would be the latest upgrade that some of you would recommend?
Right  now I don't have the info on the computer that is running the system.
That can be provided tomorrow if necessary.
Thanks in advance.

I've  had some recent problems from a mouse ( rodent) getting in my electrical cabinet.
The computer tried to boot,  but wouldn't  fully boot.
I found where a mouse has been in my cabinet .
There are a couple of chewed wires,  but mostly  pee on some stuff.
I'm going  to unplug and re-seat all the connections.
If this  doesn't  work, I'll  have to set up another  computer.
I had a copy of my .XML???? file on a jump drive, but can't locate it at the moment.
If I have to use another computer, how hard will it be to do all the settings?
Will this be like starting over with a new machine?
It's been 10 years since my build.
I have drawings and pin outs, and pictures of everything.  Even several pages of wiring diagrams wire colors,, and wire numbers..
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Hopefully  I can find a loose connection.

General Mach Discussion / Need idea for timed oiler
« on: May 25, 2020, 10:16:56 PM »
I haven't messed with my Mach 3 in a while.
There is an auto oiler, that is operated by a slow geared drive and contacts.
About every 20 minutes, it clicks on, and oils for 7 seconds????????
I have an override button on the control panel that I hit during startup and when homing everything.

Would I need to program a brain for something like that?
Can you direct me to where I can find info on this.
Thanks a lot.

I did a retrofit on a mill around 2011..
Hood was a lot of help.
I'm wanting to upgrade to a newer version.
I think mine is a 2010 ??????? Version..
I haven't messed with it since 2014.
Maybe 2 or 3 times  a year.

Do I need to back up anything?
Maybe take pictures of my settings\ tuning incase something happens?
  Any info appreciated.

Jack

Hello,
I haven't  been on here in a while.
When I did my retro back  in  2011, Hood gave me a lot of help.
I want to update to a newer version.
Can you tell me what I need to look at and save in my current settings?
I don't  want to update  and lose my current tuning and parameters.
 Thanks,
Jack

I am wanting to upgrade to a newer version of Mach3. Apparently,  my version is the one that has the spindle reverse pulley bug. Was downloaded around July 2010 ( I think?????)

I know I can save my .xml file and reuse it. Are there any other settings that I need to make note of?

I have taken pictures of each screen, in the event that something happens and they have to be re-done completely.

Thanks,

JAckal

General Mach Discussion / Milling letters/design on arched face surface
« on: December 22, 2011, 03:49:12 PM »
I have done a little bit of lettering/engraving on my mill. There are some motorcycle guys wanting me to engrave their gas caps & belt buckles.

How do you  engrave on an arched radius like this?

I have an old  Master cam program and can get the arch but the letters are giving me fits.

Thanks,
Jackal :)
