If it all runs OK Steve, which I am sure it will, don't be tempted to later install the Win XP SP2 update. This caused problems for me which were only cured when I rolled back to the SP1 condition.
Just a thought but have you tried the M7 / M5 combination as this has a much smaller delay and is easily configured port and pin in the spindle setup menu.
After a bit of machining the Z axis 'mock-up' mirror mounting has now been replaced by, what I hope will be the finished part. Undecided if I should follow Sam's example and anodize the part and dye it black or leave it as it is.
