So I am hopefull that I can just send the Z Axis direction to Pin 7 as is normal and to Pin 9 to feed the MX3660 digital out 4

The Z Axis Direction signal will toggle between the High and Low state dependant on axis direction movement. The signal is persistent and retains it's state until changed.

Now I do not know how to get into the screen set and edit the individual home buttons.  They do not flash when I go into Operator>Edit Button Scripts

You need to use a Screen Designer (such as Klaus's Screen) https://www.machsupport.com/downloads-updates/screensets/
to change the buttons to VB buttons before you can enter your VB scripts.

I am sure it will be full of bugs but my point is that when I get the syntax error, how do I know where it is?

The script editor is not perfect but usually it highlights part of the error line or gives some indication of the area in which the error exists.
Hopefully TPS will be able to give you more information as he is the VB expert.

(your script is bit of a mess, presumably from copy and paste from other scripts, I haven't counted but If's and End If's don't seem to tally - but it's nothing that cant be sorted).

Hi Mark,

I understand what you say.  OK that's what the guy in the video named his folder but Mach3SDK.exe does not exist.
In the video the debugging template shown is actually Visual C++ 2003 which is the framework for creating the .DLL plugin.
It is perhaps a bit confusing but start out with a blank template and follow James Lenoard's tutorial, it will all make sense in the end ( hopefully  ).
