Each axis moves as the result of step and direction signals.
If 100 step pulses are sent and the direction signal is low then the axis will move in one direction - if 100 pulses are sent and the direction signal is high then the axis will move in the opposite direction. If the direction signal is not connected then the axis can only move in one direction.
You need to check that you have the X axis direction signal wire connected correctly and configured correctly within Mach (correct port and pin etc)
