Looking at that video, the motor is stalling. Reduce your Velocity in motor tuning until you get it to work reliably, save the result and try again.

If I run at about 1000-1500mm/m, then it seem fine.

I think you have answered your own question here.  ;D

You could do as Gerry did (at least I think it was Gerry) and find a local computer supply store, take a copy of Mach on CD and explain that this is the program you want to be able to run and if the Driver Test works OK on their recommended computer then you will buy it. If they don't want to play ball find another store.

Hi Bob,

One wire from a  capacitor goes to the same terminal as the switch is connected to and the other wire from the capacitor goes to GND.
Fit one for the EStop wire and every other limit switch that you have connected. They are fitted at the controller end (usually the breakout board).

If you post here or email me a copy of your wiring diagram I will indicate where they are fitted if you are still in doubt.  ;)

What do you have the Kernel Speed set at ? (Config : Ports & Pins).

Bob,

Length of cables are an issue but as long as they are screened and correctly terminated you will be OK.
Limit switches must be connected with screened (shielded) cable with the screen connected to GND at the controller end only. A single point GND for all common connections is also good practice.

That's the ones Bob.

Packs of them are available on EBay for small money.  ;)

No help at all but this type of problem is occurring more and more frequently as the old technology PC's with parallel ports and WinXP are starting to become scarce. The future of Mach will perhaps lie in 'external motion controllers' but which one is best to use is anybody's guess.
I have one machine running with the Smooth Stepper and that works just great but from reading other threads I see it would not be suitable for all machine situations.

Anyone else have any views on the future for Mach (except that version 4 will solve everything) ??

Bob,

It would help if you connected a 0.1uF (small ceramic type would be OK) capacitor between each input terminal you are using for your switches and ground (GND or 0 Volts).
This should reduce the noise pickup and enable you to run with quite a low de-bounce setting.

Hi Arnie,

Which drawing program are you using to create you GCode ?

Drawing programs (such as Sketchup for example) have various resolution levels which can be set and these directly affect the smoothness of the finished circles.

You should follow the procedure of;

Connecting all cables etc. correctly.
Switching on computer.
Getting Mach running and set.
Turn on machine.

Plugging and unplugging cables with your PC or machine running is down right dangerous as it can damage the PC or damage the machine or damage you.

There have been videos posted in the past where users have disconnected cables from running machines and caused a machine runaway. Take care  ;)
