Hi Gary,

As Craig mentioned, if you are going to be using a laptop then you will need a motion controller.

I think general opinion prefers Ethernet over USB connection and choose one that also supports Mach4 (you may wish to move to that in the future) and please avoid any of the cheap controllers that are made in China.

The ESS is good https://warp9td.com/ and so is the UC400ETH http://www.cncdrive.com/UC400ETH.html but there are others to choose from.

Hi Peter,

V-Carve has told you that there are open vectors in your drawing...
In V-Carve Edit tab you need to select the open vectors then join the vectors - once you have a complete vector then it can be selected and the toolpath created.

You really need to have a read through the Vectric manual - I do appreciate that it's not that easy to understand but you have to go through the learning curve.

Your particular USB motion controller may not support the RFH command - you would just have to try it and see.

Download the current version of Mach3 from here https://www.machsupport.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Mach3Version3.043.exe
then install that and see if it installs correctly.

Hi Chris,

There is no real easy transition from Mach3 to Mach4. Setting-up is basically starting out from scratch.
Because Mach4 is a new product from the ground up the only thing that is usable from Mach3 is your .xml machine settings, Port and Pin, Velocity, Acceleration, etc., etc.
The really important part of using Mach4 is that you would need to choose a motion controller which supports all the functions you intend to use - some are better at Turn, some at Plasma, some at Laser, etc. and the Chinese controllers should be avoided at all cost.
