FAQs / Re: Setting Mach 3 Port to PCI parallel port address
« on: June 27, 2016, 07:47:00 AM »
With that laptop setup you could not use Mach3.
For Mach4 you would need to use an external motion controller (typically available from;   Warp9, Vital Systems, PMDX, PoLabs, CNC4PC, CS LAB, etc. ).

Hi Lou, welcome to the forum.

In another post you said - " I tried the free Mach 3 demo just to  make sure the machine worked and it did".

Go back to that, try it out and if you are satisfied that Mach3 is for you contact Licensing to obtain the license that will convert your demo version to the full version.

General Mach Discussion / Re: VFD problem
« on: June 27, 2016, 02:37:37 AM »
Hi Bill,

You should regard the debounce as a 'sticky plaster' rather than a cure. The fact that increasing it to 500 created improvement I think confirms that you have a problem with electrical noise which should now be tackled.

Ideally, you should be able to run your system with debounce set to zero but the 500 figure that I suggested generally protects against the odd EStop caused by mains borne spikes etc.

Check that your shielding and earthing are all good.

(It was intended as advice to beginners but this document may be helpful  http://openbuilds.com/threads/electronics-101.693/)

General Mach Discussion / Re: License Installing problem
« on: June 27, 2016, 02:13:47 AM »
The license file you previously posted here was the correct file, the one you have just installed on your PC is not the correct file.

I have tested your license file and it is working correctly and displaying your name.

Go back to your original email from Licensing to get the correct zip file, unzip it and copy that Mach1Lic.dat into your Mach3 folder.

General Mach Discussion / Re: VFD problem
« on: June 26, 2016, 03:07:35 AM »
VFD’s emit copious amounts of electrical noise in the RF spectrum and this can easily be picked up by any un-shielded wiring and subsequently interpreted by Mach3 as a signal (EStop, Limit, etc.).

Just a couple of suggestion…
Check that your EStop and limit switch wiring is made with good quality shielded cable with each shield connected (at one end only) to the ‘single point Earth’ at the controller end.
Your Spindle motor should be wired with shielded cable again with the shield connected, at one end only to the single point Earth.
Check your VFD manufacturers wiring instructions to make certain you have the Earth connected correctly.
Check that your single point Earth is indeed connected to EARTH.
Increase your debounce to 500.
Fit 0.1uF minature capacitors between each used input to your breakout board and the single point Earth.

I hope that one, or more of these suggestions may cure your problem.

General Mach Discussion / Re: How to slave motors 2 by 2
« on: June 26, 2016, 02:43:52 AM »
Mach3 has been designed to slave;

X axis to either A, B, C
Y axis to either A, B, C
Z axis to either A, B, C

And without duplication of any slaved axis.

You can slave up to 3 pairs of motors and obviously you can call these motors any axis you choose (without duplication) but to make sense of any key presses or screen DRO’s you would use one of the available Screen Designers to modify your screen to change the X, Y, Z axes DRO’s description to your own choice (deleting the A or 4 axis DRO as this will not be operational if you slave any axis to A).

Unzip the license file that was sent to you.
Open the folder mach3.
Open the folder JOHN……….
Copy the file Mach1Lic.dat into your C: Mach3 folder.

On restarting Mach3 you will have Licensed To: John………... and the demo restrictions removed.

FAQs / Re: Setting Mach 3 Port to PCI parallel port address
« on: June 25, 2016, 11:44:53 AM »
The recommended, basic computer requirements when using the parallel port for Mach3 machine control are as follows:

Desktop PC (Laptops are not supported) with at least one parallel port
32-bit version of Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 (64-bit versions will not work)
1Ghz CPU
512MB RAM
Non-integrated Video Card with 32MB RAM(Large G-code files, especially 3D files will require a video card with 512MB RAM or higher)

Does your PC meet these requirements ?

 If it's any help, the most popular version appears to be R3.043.062 and this can be downloaded from here;

General Mach Discussion / Re: XY Datum Position
« on: June 22, 2016, 01:59:15 AM »
That's an unusual problem...

Does your machine have the X axis Left to Right and the Y axis Front to Back ?
In Aspire, check that you are setting the work datum point as the front left corner.
