General Mach Discussion / Re: Wacky towards the end of G code
« on: April 19, 2015, 11:34:12 AM »
Just a shot in the dark but it could be that your graphics card is struggling (as can happen with long Gcode programs). Try running your Gcode program with the ToolPath switched off (Diagnostics screen) and see if that cures the problem. If it does then perhaps upgrade your graphics card (more ram).

Hi Guys,

Welcome to the forum.

As this is really just an introduction thread you need to post your questions as a new topic in the general section for it to receive maximum exposure to the hive mind.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach3 issues on Windows Xp! Please help!

Sorry, I do appreciate the language differences.

Mach3 (in particular the parallel port driver) takes liberties with the Windows operating system and some PC's just can't handle it. My best advice is to try another PC.

Well, all I can suggest is that your PC is either running background tasks or something but it seems that particular PC is not up to running Mach3 within Windows XP as it stands.

Hi Thomas,

The forum sets a time limit on modifying what we have posted.

It was not always like this but some members abused the system - modifying their previous postings, in the light of hindsight, which then made others subsequent posts nonsensical.

If you need anything in a previous post changing please contact a moderator who can do it for you if the change is justified.

Does your PC have, as minimum requirement …

•   1Ghz CPU
•   512MB RAM
•   Non-integrated Video Card with 32MB RAM(Large G-code files, especially 3D files will require a video card with 512MB RAM or higher)

VB and the development of wizards / Re: THC needs 3 signals

Our post processor uses M03/M05 for torch On/Off, we understand that means Start/Stop for our THC's process. We've also noticed that our post processor places an M11P5 and M10P5 for corner in corner out, which seems very useful to use those to deactivate and activate our THC. A look back at the g-code sequence above will show the torch gets to the circle, M03 will start the torch, the THC will do its thing and fire the torch for us, and then calls the M11P5 for the corner. (in this case the corner is a circle) We've tried to use the M11.m1s and M10.m1s in our macros folder to activate and deactivate an output, but cant seem to get it to work. I'm thinking it has something to do with the P5 being in front of the M11 (i.e. M11P5) so, I tried using parameters. The macros files for M11.m1s and M10.m1s look like this:

If it's any help...

The command M11P5 will activate Output#5 and the command M10P5 will deactivate Output#5 only at the instant an axis (any axis) moves.
The command M11P4 / M10P4 will activate / deactivate Output#4 (in exactly the same way) and so on.
You cannot modify the actions of these commands in a macro (as you have found with M11.m1s etc.)

Hi Terry,

Phew, that’s a relief.  ;D

To fit one of these strings (which has a loop at the machine end) to a standard instrument you would need to make and fit a short pin which is 3.5mm diameter stepped down to the diameter of the string hole in the machine head peg. Then measure the required string length allowing for ½ a turn of the machine head peg with the string tensioned. Once the correct length has been determined only then can the string can be made – much easier to buy and use a stock string.  ;)

Hi Terry,

As mentioned previously I am concerned with winding custom strings to fit custom instruments and they are visually different to standard strings. They are finished both ends (ferrule / loop) to a defined length and wound on a round core so cannot subsequently be cut to a shorter length.

Bearing in mind the postage cost (UK to US) is likely to exceed the value of the string if you PM me with the diameter of the music wire core (inch) and the diameter of the wrap (inch) plus the overall length (mm) and if you require phosphor bronze or nickle wrap then I will give it a go.  ;)
