Try this.

My approach would be to sense the current drawn by the spindle motor.

The detection circuit would be different for a.c. or d.c. motors but the result would be that if the signal on the M3/M4 Output#  is present and the current draw on the motor is nil (or below a preset value) trigger the EStop.

The issue is, I have saved the g-code from v-carve pro, loaded it in mach 3 but only part of the g-code transfers and I can only see that part in the display.

Hi Vballsave,

Welcome to the forum.

Sounds like you are operating Mach3 in Demo mode where it will only load and run 500 lines of Gcode. You need to purchase and install the license to gain full and unlimited operation of Mach3. http://www.machsupport.com/shop/mach3/

That's always the way - things never seem to misbehave on demand.  :)

Try with SW4 to off for a while and see if that helps but check motors do not get too hot - they should be hot to the touch but not too hot that you cannot hold your hand on them for a while.

By all means post the details of your set-up, the hive mind will almost certainly spot anything that can be improved.

Also perhaps post your  <profile>.xml  file from your Mach3 folder then your Mach3 settings can be checked. Copy and rename this file to DEM.xml before posting (using the Reply tab and Additional Options...).

Yes.

The 'half current' mode is overridden by the switch SW4.

Mach3 under Vista / Re: Mach3 in Windows 7... Z plane problem...

Perhaps place a mark (or sticky tape etc.) on your Z axis motor shaft to verify if it actually is turning during the job.
Also check the tightness of the tool in it's collet.

Could you carry out a measurement ?

Use a multimeter across your power supply to make sure the Voltage stays up when your drives go into low power (standby) mode.

Does setting SW4 to 0 on your drives remove the problem ?

Hi Malcolm,

Something else to try...

Disable the Outputs# (as previously mentioned).
Change Step Low Active (to a tick) for the X, Y, Z axes in Motor Outputs.
Change Step Pulse & Dir Pulse from 5uS to 2uS in Motor Tuning.

I agree, a flip-flop may be the best solution.
