I think we have now covered all the possibilities and my conclusion is (as you suspected) the breakout board Pin 13 is bad.

Limit switches do not need separate inputs (except for slaved axes) so they can share just one Input pin. This could free up a working Input for use with your Probe. Alternately, a new (perhaps better quality) breakout board is required ?

Hi Ian,

Your .xml file is in your Mach3 folder and it is called    Mach3Mill.xml

On the attached image I have marked pin 13. Is this the pin you are using ?

By changing the Mach3 Probe configuration (different pin) do any of the other inputs (pins 10,11,12) work ?

Hi Wes,

You need to connect the 12 to 24 Volt power source (which powers the opto-isolators) to get Inputs (and Outputs) to work on that breakout board.

The voltage readings are correct.

A question I should have perhaps asked before - What make and model of breakout board are you using (a picture may be good) ?

There is differing opinions regarding exactly which parts of an installation should be fused as in some instances rapid voltage disconnection (blown fuse) may cause just as much damage as not having a fuse at all.

My advice would be just to fit slow blow fuses on each of the mains inputs to devices (PSU, Spindle, etc.).

If you attach your .xml file ( <your profile> .xml from your Mach3 folder) I will check your configuration. Copy it and rename the copy to iparr.xml then use the Additional Options to attach.

Connect a voltmeter between Pin 13 and GND. What is the voltage reading ?
Connect the voltmeter between Pin 13 and +5 Volts. What is the reading ?

Hi Ian,

Assuming you have set / configured Pin13 correctly then temporarily connecting it to GND should activate the Digitize LED on the Diagnostics (Alt-7) page. Does it do this ?

Hi Ian,

Check that you have Enabled and set Probe to Active Low and also the Port and Pin (13) correctly.
