Not your fault my friend if the tools you are using are not the best.

F-Engrave is free; http://scorchworks.com/Fengrave/fengrave.html

Vectric costs money; http://www.vectric.com/products/aspire.html

I use both of these (used F-Engrave for rotary engraving less than 0.5 mm high and V-Carving a 2 Metre long, 10 mm or so deep, Teak sign).

Your .dxf's are just fine but the generated Gcode is useless.

I really think you should call time on LazyCam and use a decent CAD/CAM software that is going to make a proper job.

You really are not having too much luck with all this.
Can you post a copy of the Gcode file that is giving this cutting between letters problem. Then we can at least establish if it's a software problem or a machine problem (perhaps).

Hi WWong,

Initially check your mechanicals...
 
that the cutting tool is tight in it's collet.
that grubscrews securing the Z axis coupling / lead screw / belt / etc. are tight.

Are you driving the Z axis stepper motor at it's rated current ?

Hi Billy,

That's the wrong .xml file.

You need to find Mach3Mill.xml    (or if you are using a different Profile then <your profile> .xml).

It's really not something you need to worry about. 

Your stepper motors move in steps and the actual number of steps per unit of measurement may not be an exact number so the Mach3 DRO does not show an exact reading. This is not really an error because it is not cumulative and always corrected at the next move so you will always be able to make accurate parts.
