The file contains a few unnecessary M63P1 commands (my post processor still needs some work) but it should give you an idea of what is required.

is there a setting in Mach to tell it to set S to 0 when the M5 command is initiated?

Hi Art,

In the folder C: / Mach3 / macros / Mach3Mill (or whatever Profile you are using) add the line   Code("S0")   to the file   m5.m1s  then save the file.

it just loses steps and kind of shifts position and the part that ive been machining for however long, be it an hour or 6 hours is ruined, its even more painful when its the finishing pass in the last 1000 lines of code.

Pin 1 is often not used when it comes to parallel port operation (it is bit of an oddball).

Can you perhaps use a different pin (2 - 9, 14, 16, 17) ?

Might you point me to a sample mill  G code file that will run properly on a freshly installed copy of the Mach3 Demo software;  using the default mill profile ? I understand machine coords, work coords etc.

I am pleased you found a perfect solution.

Just a note for others - when fitting a PCI Parallel Port card to a new PC make sure the card is to the old 5Volt standard and not the new 3.3Volt standard. If your controller is expecting 5Volt TTL logic and only gets 3.3Volt TTL logic then loosing steps is often the result. I would rather use Mach3, I have ran it since I started carving.

Unfortunately, that's not a Mach3 compatible board.

One of the questions would be, which should I go with, Mach3, or Planet CNC on getting my machine back running?

Obviously I am biased but I would recommend Mach3 or 4.

So really want to try making the USB board work if at all possible. I have no paper work at all, so any help with this would be so kind.

Perhaps if you provide full details and a picture of your USB breakout board someone may be able to help.

Could be that you are still using your original Screen.set

In the Menu  View / Load Screens select 1024.set for the standard screen.
