You're right TPS, the physical pin connections have to be changed, please ignore my earlier post.

Though, could it be the parallel port that is doing this? To get lower voltage at the card.

You can check if it is the parallel port that has the problem...

Note the two pins that you are using for Z axis.
In Ports and Pins / Motor Outputs configuration swap X axis pins for Z axis pins.
If Z axis now works and X axis does not work then it is the LPT parallel port that needs replacing.
If Z axis still does not work but X axis does then it is your driver card that needs replacing.

Hi Jerry,

Can you confirm that the X an Y axis is working OK - it is just the Z axis which is not working ?

Hi Kirbee,

As Dave has said...

Your CNC machine should be controlled by a dedicated PC which is not internet connected, network connected or running any other software in the background.

SmoothStepper USB / Re: SMOOTH STEPPER SAVED FILES

Hi Frank,

The only important thing when creating your new profile is that you physically enter your settings thereby creating a new  .xml  file. You should not just copy over your existing .xml file because that may just be duplicating the error you are trying to remove.

Hi Frank,

Then I suspect that you have a corrupt .xml file.

You could try Operator / Restore Settings and select an earlier backup and see if that performs OK but my recommendation is that you create a new profile from scratch.
(Make a copy of all your settings then enter them into a new profile - laborious but may be the only way).

Hi Frank,

Try making your changes to Mach3, saving the data then close Mach without running anything.
Re-open Mach - have the changes been kept ?

Forgive my ignorance.....do you mean the file called 'MachXML' which is an Application file 124 KB?  :-\

No.

Your user profile is shown bottom right of the main screen, your Mach3 settings are in a file called <your user profile> .xml
