I would suspect that the problem is mechanical, maybe a loose coupling ?

Check that you are not loosing steps - does the machine return eaxctly to the zero position after it has finished making the oval pockets ?

If you have done all the tests then it sounds like Pin 15 from the Parallel Port is dead.
Either another PC or perhaps fit a new PCI Parallel Port card (5 Volt version - this thread refers; http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php/topic,34848.msg239910.html#msg239910 )

Right clicked drivetest, ran as administrator, nothing happened.

Which OS are you using and is it 32 Bit ?

Assuming you are using the Parallel Port then another issue could be the output voltage. Old PC equipment was 5 Volt and new equipment is generally 3.3 Volt and may not be able to drive your controller correctly.
There are a number of solutions and one is to fit a PCI Parallel Port card which outputs 5 Volts - this thread may be of interest;  http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php/topic,34848.msg239910.html#msg239910

I presume you have Port#1 Pin 15 set as the Probe Input in Ports & Pins. Have you tried changing the Active Low state ?

The M3/M4/M5 commands are far too slow for laser work and as Gerry has mentioned you need to be using the M11P# / M10P# commands.

Even if you use the M11P#/M10P# commands you cannot directly transition from GRBL generated Gcode because under Mach the S#### commands will break the Constant Velocity chain and you will still have pauses which will create unwanted burn marks.
