From what you describe I would suggest that you check your wiring connections for a missing Ground (or possibly Earth) connection between your equipment. Also check your LPT cable pin for pin and all other cables for continuity. If you have changed or replaced anything during the move then that would be the first place to start looking.

Initially I would carefully inspect the cable connections for your motor that is badly behaving - plug/socket and wire for open circuit of one connection. Then I would take the controller box apart and visually inspect everything very thoroughly, looking for bad solder joints or solder bridges across tracks, terminals etc. and all the plugs / sockets for continuity.

If nothing is found I would replace the controller with one of better quality (US or European manufacture not Chinese).

It sounds like you have identified the fault as the X axis driver in your 6040 controller.

Hi Franselferink,

Please do keep us informed of your experience with XHC.

I am with Craig on this one, XHC do leave a lot to be desired when it comes to customer / product support but I suspect that they are just retailing a product (or products) which originated from another manufacturer and they really do not understand the technical aspects of what they are selling.

I would be inclined to make a secure backup of the Mach3 folder (just in case) then re-install Mach3 over the top of the existing installation (sounds like you have lost or overwritten one of the files Mach requires for it's boot operation).

When you load your Gcode select ‘Files of type:’ and choose your file extension *.tap, *.txt, etc, etc.

The Gcode folder you have lost is attached – just unzip and copy the folder Gcode to your Mach3 folder.
