General Mach Discussion / Thread Milling Wizard
« on: June 03, 2007, 02:14:58 PM »
Want to do some thread milling with a single tooth cutter.  When I use the wizard on field is Major/Minor and I am not sure what to put into this as a value the major or minor dimension?

General Mach Discussion / CNC lathe
« on: April 28, 2007, 10:29:21 AM »
I am interested in buying a tabletop cnc lathe with a linear encoder.  I would prefer to buy it as a complete system I really do not have the time to build one myself.

Any suggestions on which to get?

Thanks

Dan.

General Mach Discussion / On screen keyboard
« on: April 23, 2007, 11:12:32 AM »
Saw this on another forum but using the MS onscreen keyboard makes it easier for me to type in simple text rather then moving from my mouse to a keyboard.  Not  a big deal but nice and free.  Under start->all programs->accessories->accessibility

Tangent Corner / Amsterdam, NL

Well here is the proof.  We had a blast and Amsterdam is a great place to visit.

It looks like this everywhere. No garbage, no bums, no crime.

The only problem with the canals is parking.  Locals say they lose a car a week in the drink.  Notice the rear wheel. Thats parallel parking!

Another favorite form of transportation is the bike.  Mothers and fathers taking the kids around is an adventure.

Also if you have to go and your a guy there is convenient out door urinals.

And of course you cannot forget the "coffee shops".  If you really want coffee you go to a cafe.

And if your in a hurry there is a to-go solution.

Variety is the key and in fact hash is available.

And there is some magic around...

Finally there is the red light district.  I only had the nerve to take this photo... the locals said that it is not a good thing to photograph the "girls".  Funny thing is every time we went by the museum old people were coming and going.

Oh, and we did meet a few celebrities... This is my daughter Dylan.

Thanks for looking.

Well not sure that this goes in show "n" tell but I think it is close...

Thought i would post how I am starting to manage a pen project in Microsoft OneNote which is a notes management software tool.

Here is the main page notice the tabs across the top:

From the main page I created an index of all the components I wanted to document.  So far I have only done the compass.

Next you can go to the compass main page folder now notice the tabs on the right side.  These are the steps in the process. I will show each one:

Now into the first tab marked set-up:

Next is the raw material.  I can put a link to the website and I saved the page as a PDF encase the page ever changes.

Next is the DXF drawing file.  I posted a photo and attached the actual file into the page:

G-code is the same style with a picture and the file:

Next is the tool I used to make the cut again I pasted the website and this time I did a screen capture of the tool.

Next I described how I sharpened the tool. This page is long with many pictures and a step by step method.

Next is the machine set-up again this is fairly long but I only captured a page to show it here:

This is the bending process:

And finally the enameling process:

Just thought I would share the idea.

General Mach Discussion / Homing Switches
« on: March 01, 2007, 05:53:56 PM »
I am interested in putting homing switches on my mill but I do not have a clue on what to look for.  Can someone make some suggetions on what to buy so I don't end up having to throw the first set out because I didn't buy the right type, style or quality.

I have a grizzly mini mill using a KDN controller http://www.kdntool.com/_sgg/m4m2_1.htm

Thanks.
