General Mach Discussion / Re: What is the best Cad / Cam software?
« on: October 16, 2006, 01:57:07 PM »
There are so many affordable CAD programs out there, I doubt it would be worth the effort to build it into LazyCAM.

I use TurboCAD Deluxe for my designing with good results in 2D and 3D... 3D is great for visualizing the finished part/assembly. My avatar is a TurboCAD 3D image, rendered in Carrara.

Version 11.2 is available from Purplus for just $29.95:

No affiliation... just a happy customer.

Down the page, next to the "Download Trial Versions" are red buttons for $20 (End User Version) and $99 (SDK Version).

Might be a real nice editor for Mach3 integration?

By the way... I have no affiliation.

Hi Benny,

Here's one you might add to the CAM page... it has similar features to Code Shark's Editor:

General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach to DeskCNC?
« on: October 14, 2006, 11:30:55 PM »
Hi Brian,

I have DeskCNC on a Sherline Lathe. It is the second generation controller with com on the serial port. To further complicate issues, I have a spindle encoder for threading.... plugged into the controller.

I would prefer not shelving the controller board, and having to buy a breakout board to use the encoder and drivers via parallel port. (and modifying my sanitary controller box)

I looked for "NC Pod" at the DesckCNC source, and my vendor, IMService... no joy.

Would the data stream for USB you're working on also have an option to go to serial?

Thanks, Paul, Central OR

Mach Screens / Re: New Screens download page here..........

Hi Benny,

You're welcome... and Thanks back!

I got Darc's set to load, but I think the bitmaps would be better if placed directly in the "Bitmaps" folder, rather than the "MillBitMaps" folder. I don't know what might happen with future upgrade installs?

I couldn't get your Sea Shanty .set to load "TEST.bmp". I placed it in "Bitmaps", "MillBitMaps" and "Mach3" folders with no luck. Looking at the .set file, it seems it should be in "Bitmaps"?

Hi Benny,

There are two ScreenSets with the same download link:

Italian Screen Set by Giordano (correct link)

Untitled by  Darc (linked to above)

Also... your Sea Shanty download only has the *.set file. No supporting bitmaps?

Hi Stan,

Unblocking the file took care of the problem.

I decompiled the .chm and the problem appears to be in the "Welcome.htm" file. It is trying to access (Active-X?) my computer, and triggers my security setup. There are some external calls such as:

<!--(Links)=========================================================-->

<link rel="StyleSheet" href="default.css">

<script language="javascript" src="ehlpdhtm.js"></script>

The ehlpdhtm.js contains:

//{{HH_SYMBOL_SECTION
var HH_ChmFilename = "C:\\D5Source\\Screen Editor\\DLLs\\Mach\\RoboHelp\\Jetcam Screen Editor.chm";

Hi Stan,

Tried that, and still get "Action canceled - Internet Explorer was unable to link to the Web page you requested. The page might be temporarily unavailable." on the flash screen and "The page cannot be displayed" when selecting topics.

I even put the "Editor" folder in the root directory to resolve any pathname isssues... still no glory.  :(

My system has the latest updates (see attached).

Thanks for the resopnse, Paul - Central OR

Hi Stan,

I'm one of those that can't get the Help files to show. I've deleted the *.ini files, so the newly created *.ini shows my local pathname... but still no help topics available.

I there a default directory location for the application that will enable the Help data?

Otherwise... great work!!! Hope you don't get discouraged with the wave of "wants" that will come at you. Many of us are greatful for any added tools toward developing our own "Best Screens".

Thanks, Paul - Central OR
