General Mach Discussion / Re: Keyboard Emulator or Breakout board

I've used those before for MAME machines I've built. Thought that there might be some other solution. Thanks, for reaffirming.

General Mach Discussion / Keyboard Emulator or Breakout board
« on: February 06, 2017, 07:36:48 PM »
I find using a keyboard the simplest way to build a pendent as the functionality is already built in to Mach. Hopefully Mach 4 will be just as easy. In the past I've just hacked a keyboard and mapped out the characters, but keyboard are so cheap these days that you can't solder onto the board to where you're confident that it won't fail.

I've done quite a bit of searching, but can't find any off the shelf keyboard emulators, breakout boards or whatever you call them to build my pendent off of. I don't want anything fancy that I can change programming I just want a simple board that you wire yourself to get keystrokes as a keyboard would.

Does anyone have a link to buy one of those?

Cool. Got everything up and working, for the most part. Now I've just got some bugs with my motion controller and mach, but I'm sure I'll figure it out.

Cool. Thanks I'll try that out. Did I hear videos? Where can I find those, if I can't find them on my own?

Mach4 General Discussion / Mach 4 some bugs - Help me.

I'm coming from mach 3 so let me know if things have changed. This is for a lathe.

1. I noticed that the arrow keys on the keyboard no longer work to move the axis'.
2. I can click on the DRO for Z and change the number by typing it on the keyboard, but the X axis I try clicking on it and nothing happens?
3. My diagnostics Tab is not there. I need to see what is keeping me from clearing an estop condition.

PoKeys / Re: Pokeys 57E w/ M16 BOB Limit Switch Wiring Question
« on: January 29, 2017, 08:31:04 PM »
When the limit switches, being NC, are not triggered does the Pokeys 57E board have red LEDs by the limit RJ45 Port? I ask because when I had GND hooked up to the limit switches common wires the LEDs were barely lit up. I mean hard to even see. When I use 5V they light up bright. When I push on a limit switch to simulate a trigger the LED turns off.

I'm not sure if this is normal or not, but I'm also having another weird problem. The E-Stop button is NC, normally closed, but I have to have the checkmark box for 'invert estop' check marked to have it work. It's totally backwards. I wonder if there's something wrong with my board.

This didn't work. When I use the 5V it does.

General Mach Discussion / Mach 3 Turn Diag in Plugin
« on: January 26, 2017, 11:09:00 PM »
I was installing a plugin for my pokeys and noticed in the plugins page that there is something called Turn Diag? What is that for? I was in the lathe profile at the time.

General Mach Discussion / Re: How many steps should I use?
« on: January 22, 2017, 12:31:58 PM »
@ger21, yeah that's what I figured. I'm using a Pokeys 57E motion controller. I've always used stepper with direct drive and used 10 micro steps, but since I'm using servos on professional machine I was wondering if I should go higher.
