I've got my PLC and Tool Changer up and running. I have no idea of how to have Mach 4 control the PLC for tool changes.

I'm using a Click PLC, which has Modbus. I also am using a Pokeys 57E if that helps.

Mach4 General Discussion / Help setting up functions for keyboard.
« on: February 11, 2017, 08:52:52 PM »
I read most the stuff on here about keyboards, but what I'm trying to do doesn't seem to be explained. Unless I'm doing it wrong.

Basically, I just want to press, let's say, C on my keyboard have it cycle start. That's it.

How would I go about that?

General Mach Discussion / Keyboard Emulator or Breakout board
« on: February 06, 2017, 07:36:48 PM »
I find using a keyboard the simplest way to build a pendent as the functionality is already built in to Mach. Hopefully Mach 4 will be just as easy. In the past I've just hacked a keyboard and mapped out the characters, but keyboard are so cheap these days that you can't solder onto the board to where you're confident that it won't fail.

I've done quite a bit of searching, but can't find any off the shelf keyboard emulators, breakout boards or whatever you call them to build my pendent off of. I don't want anything fancy that I can change programming I just want a simple board that you wire yourself to get keystrokes as a keyboard would.

Does anyone have a link to buy one of those?

Mach4 General Discussion / Mach 4 some bugs - Help me.
« on: February 02, 2017, 03:51:35 PM »
I'm coming from mach 3 so let me know if things have changed. This is for a lathe.

1. I noticed that the arrow keys on the keyboard no longer work to move the axis'.
2. I can click on the DRO for Z and change the number by typing it on the keyboard, but the X axis I try clicking on it and nothing happens?
3. My diagnostics Tab is not there. I need to see what is keeping me from clearing an estop condition.

General Mach Discussion / Mach 3 Turn Diag in Plugin
« on: January 26, 2017, 11:09:00 PM »
I was installing a plugin for my pokeys and noticed in the plugins page that there is something called Turn Diag? What is that for? I was in the lathe profile at the time.

General Mach Discussion / How many steps should I use?
« on: January 21, 2017, 10:38:25 PM »
I'm almost finished with my mori sl1 retrofit. My Servos are factory set at 2000 steps per revolution. I can change it to upwards of 16,000 steps per revolutions. It's a 3 to 1 gear reduction.  Not sure what pitch my ball screws are. So what should I use as steps per revolution? I know how to set them up in Mach.

General Mach Discussion / PLC Tool Changer Help. Where to Start?
« on: January 15, 2017, 12:16:19 PM »
I'm retrofitting a Mori Seiki SL1. I've figured out how the tool changer works and how I'm going to program it with an Automation Direct Click PLC.

I have no idea of how to start with Mach 3. There's so many ways it seems that you can do it.

Basically my PLC with take a signal from Mach 3 and the plc will do the tool change and send a response to Mach 3 when the tool change it complete. I know how to program the PLC, but not Mach 3.

From reading I think I need to setup ModBus between Mach 3 and my PLC. So does that mean just a serial cable from my computer to the PLC? Does it bypass my Pokeys 57E completely?

Then do I need to program macros for tool changes?

Any help would be appreciated.

PoKeys / Pokeys 57E w/ M16 BOB Limit Switch Wiring Question
« on: January 09, 2017, 11:44:10 PM »
I'm using a 57E Pokeys and an M16 BOB. For the limit switches I understand that Pokeys now supports limits being used for home limits as well. On the board there are X, Y, Z and A inputs for wiring the limits. Obviously daisy chain two together per axis.

But what I need to know is one wire goes to the pin for the axis, but where does the other wire go to the "GND" pin or the "5V' pin? Thanks.

General Mach Discussion / C10 BOB use with 12VDC Relay
« on: December 24, 2016, 03:34:30 PM »
How do I wire a 12VDC relay with the C10 BOB. I'm using a 12VDC relay for my coolant because it's DIN rail mounted. Is there a way to do this?

Title says it all. I've got a 57E and M16 BOB coming to convert my Mori SL1 CNC Lathe and need to know how to wire the M16 to trigger a relay who's coil is 12VDC. Thanks.
