General Mach Discussion / Re: feed hold is freezing up my system
« on: December 15, 2008, 08:30:28 AM »
no there are no messages in the ticker.  the entire machine freezes up and i have to shut it down and restart everything to get it to work again.  it is the newest version of mach.  brian barker upgraded the system (new computer, new mach 3)  about 2-3 weeks ago.  also installed a new plc card and dura pulse spindle drive.  everything is goood other than the feedhold problem.   i dont really know any of the technical stuff but if you need more info ill try to do what i can.

thanks dave

« on: October 01, 2008, 02:03:01 PM »
i was in the middle of making a cut with my saw when the spindle just quit on me.  the spindle drive has power going to it but it isn't turning on. i have tested all of the fuses and they seem fine.
also i tested the voltage going to the spindle controll and it was fine.  any ideas?   please help!

hi hood.
yes the problem followed the drive.   i took the drive apart and cleaned all the dust out of it and now it works fine.  i work in a wet environment so i think some moisture was getting into the drive.  combine the moisture and the dust and i think it was shorting out.

thanks for the help!!!

thanks hood.

i did the test and it was sending the signal to the motor so I'm assuming that the problem is the signal from the motor to the x axis on the saw itself?  what do you think?

i know what to do now and i checked out the pins and what-not and i know what im looking at now.  you said its easy enough to do if i dont have an e-stop in my system.  i do have an e-stop in my system so, can i still do it this way or do i have to do something else?
thanks for the help! :)
