General Mach Discussion / 6040 spindle control
« on: January 18, 2019, 12:34:19 PM »
Hi all
Having trouble getting my spindle to turn off and on via Mach3. It is a nowforever E100 VFD. I have the thing wired to my motion card relay C to C on the vfd and NO to X1 on the vfd. when I change the peramiters on the vfd to run off of Mach3 the spindle comes comes on but when I toggle the spindle toggle or use the m code to shut it off, it just winds down for a few seconds and goes right back to whatever speed was sett on the vfd.

Any idea?

General Mach Discussion / Looking for some help TECO FM50 VFD
« on: July 25, 2010, 03:52:38 PM »
Hey there All!!

I need a little help getting my computer to turn my mill off and on. I have a Teco FM50 VFD and a Logitrol controller that has 2 relays. I can hear the relay when I hit the toggle spindle button in Mach3 but cant seem to figure out how to get it to control the VFD. I have one wire out of my relay going to the FWD terminal and one going to the Relay terminal, and I also have adjusted the F10 parameter(Start/Stop Control) to 1 which is Terminal(TM2).

What am I missing folks? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Ray, I went ahead and boosted it up to 35 ipm and ran a few programs in the air, and it seemed to do ok, I will try some more in the morning, what do you think I can expect for speed?

Thanks for that, my setup is a Logitrol system with 1200oz hybrid steppers, and it uses Gecko drivers. It is a Birmingham 3949 with leadscrews. The motors are geared 2:1. Hope that helps.

General Mach Discussion / Need help with motor tuning!!

Howdy all!
Got my Bridgeport clone x and y axis done, still working on the z, but I need some help setting up the motor tuning. I have the steps and all that figured out, been using it as is for a couple weeks, and everything is cutting to dimension. What I need help with is setting the acceloration and velocity. I have it set up right now with a velocity of 25 and accel 4, dont ask me how I got to these numbers cause I don't remember, but I want it to go faster without loosing steps. I do not know how to do the tuning and am afraid to just start tweaking thing. I am sure it should be able to go faster without loosing steps, but I need some guidance to figure it all out.

Thanks in advance!!

I have my Bridgeport clone up and going on x and y and am working on the z, will post pics when I am done, but I want to add the spindle control. I have a C6(cnc4pc) spindle controler and need to get a 2nd port and breakout board. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

General Mach Discussion / Manual Z

Hi all
I am working on my Bridport clone conversion, and have the X and Y done. I would like to use the mill as is while I am working out the Z axis. I tried searching here and did not find the answer, but I would like to do manual z moves. How do I get it to stop when it comes to a z move and let me manually move the z. I have fiddled around with it and it still just blows right thru without stopping. I saw apost that referanced a couple of scripts:

ZDN_2d.m1s
ZUP_2d.m1s

But I cannot find these scripts or how to write them.

Thanks
Walt
