Mach4 General Discussion / Re: No signal to laser pwm port
« on: April 03, 2024, 11:21:22 AM »
I tried another ESS and BOB and the results were the same, None of the output ports are showing a signal.
The SWM port ( port3 pin6 ) shows .02v, when test fire is selected the volts go down to -.060.

I'm sure this will be a easy fix and I am over seeing the issue.
My setup coinsist of Win 11, Mach4 4809 build, ESS 285 with laser screen installed I'm Using a MB3 BOB.
All other profiles work fine but I have been unable to get laser profile to test fire laser.
The ESS pin config. I have port3 pin 14 named as laser PWM, Port3 pin 16 named as Laser Gate,
In Outputs I have Laser PWM mapped to P3-14, and output#16 mapped P3-16. Laser tab the laser gate assigned to #16. Allow test fire is checked.
My first thought was a bad 24v ( LT-80W-AA-Pro ) Laser but after connecting the PWM to a 5v source on the MB3 the laser did come on.
Tested P3-14 with ohm meter and no volts while test firing in mach4. I tried changing the power in ESS laser tab from 15.1 to 75 % and still no voltage.
If anyone could offer suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked Mach4's port assignment, output mode, and test output function?

Hello Charlie, I did go into ESS Diagnostic and checked the output. When I test fire Laser, the Blue signal lights up indicating the signal is being sent.  ( It flashes on Port3 pin 6/8 )
The BOB does show a red LED for those ports also.

Hello, was wondering if anybody has had the same issue and what might be wrong, or something I could change to fix this issue.
I'm using
Win10
CNC4 newbie
TB 6600 Drivers
Nema Stepper 23 Motors
ESS MB3 BOB
Mach4 4809
ESS 283
Machine was returning to Z0 and I noticed a triangle in the return path.
See attached files.
Also included gcode file i used, changed to txt. you will need to change back to .gcode

I'm very sorry for the subject saying DRO. I apologize for that. It should say Tool Path Window.
