Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Prevent Cycle Timer from zeroing?
« on: March 05, 2021, 12:37:01 PM »
Great news.  So I hope after updating the version the cycle timer will stop zeroing itself after the job finishes. Unless something is wrong with my settings and I don't know about it. Thanks a lot for your help.

What version of Mach are you using? Looking at the change log there were some recent changes to how this works..

Code: [Select]
4564 - 4570
Core: Change run timer characteristics to:
      1. clear upon reset
  2. clear upon file load.
  3. clear upon rewind/run (M99)
  4. clear upon cycle start after rewind.
  5. clear upon cycle start in MDI.

So where should I set one of the characteristics, please? It seems as it would do the job... Is it in screen editing under operator?

Mach4 General Discussion / Prevent Cycle Timer from zeroing?
« on: March 04, 2021, 06:12:06 PM »
Hi.
I have a MACH4 question.

As the title says, I would like to stop cycle time when the program ends, but without resetting it to zeroes, as it does every time at the moment. Is it at all possible? I have been trying editing G-Codes for this, but no luck so far. Thanks for any suggestions...

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: CV Tuning Wizard

Thanks for the suggestions, these I tried already though and didn't seem to make any noticeable difference. Going very slowly improves the "teeth problem".

Mach4 General Discussion / CV Tuning Wizard
« on: August 17, 2020, 12:39:02 PM »
Hi.
I am running ESS with the newest recommended version of plugin and newest MACH 4 recommended for ESS, but having a problem with MC CV Tuning Wizard. Basically it does not retain the settings after clicking apply and it does not have any influence on my machine regardless of being on or off. With older MACH 4 and older ESS plugin the issue was the same.

The reason why I am trying out CV tuning is because I have a problem with irregular "teeth" like shapes appearing on the edges of my cuts whenever cutting at angles or cutting circles. Reducing feed rate and acceleration rates improved the results a bit but "teeth" are still there always the same places (like at 4 points on the circle 10 o'clock 2 o'clock 4 o'clock 8 o'clock) The machine slightly vibrates there and creates ridged edge then goes smoothly until reaches close to the next point, there vibrates and moves and so on...

Is CV wizard the way to fix it? How to fix the cv wizard?

Thanks

Thanks for your quick response. My mind is set on ESS with MB3 just need to ensure that my engineer is able to install it and he should with so much info available. When the machine is up and running I will post it here so others like me can make informed decisions. Thank you.

On ESS website I have read something concerning :
"Since the SmoothStepper outputs 5V signals (with currents limited to 24 or 32 mA), you will need a motor driver between the SmoothStepper and the motor itself.  For your axes, the SmoothSteppers can control stepper motor drivers and digital servo motor drivers. We do not support analog servo motor drivers or PWM servo motor drivers.   For the axes, we run open loop and don't support PID (since that is used in analog servo setups). "

My machine uses HCFA X3E SERIES SERVO MOTOR CONTROL ( https://my729800-credence-automation-sdn-bhd.contact.page/products/183052-hcfa-x3e-series-servo-motor )

I remember my service engineer talking about PID configuration.

Does it mean that ESS will not work with my machine?

I forgot to mention I have a 4 Axis machine. Does it change anything in terms of choosing a controller card and BoB? I mean can I still use ESS?

Thanks Craig.
I suppose there are no compatibility issues with Mach 4 and ESS? Can I use the newest version of Mach 4? My current card supports only small part of Mach 4 functions and sorry to be a nuisance, but I want to make sure that no more issues like this will happen with the next card.
