Try setting your kernal speed to the next higher setting.  I would be willing to bet that is the resolution you are looking for

Larry

Yes that’s what I ended up doing and it did allow it to run faster.

Hi there,
Im loosing steps on my X axis at a certain line in the code. I'm running mach3 on windows 7 with a printer port to a breakout board then to individual cards. My stepper motor will make a buzzing noise just like if you were to try to run you axis into an end stop. it lasts for a second or two. It doesn't do it every time but almost every time. I made 7 pieces and it did it on 5 of them.
I have 1200 OZ motors, ball screws and linear rails. I removed the cars off of the rails and checked to make sure they were not clogged with sawdust the cars and the gantry head moves easily along the rails. the ball screw also rotates freely.
I'm cutting slots with a 3/4" bit in Ash I plunge down 3mm at 190mm per minute, then it travels to the end of the slots and plunges again.. travel speed is 1800mm per minute. My acceleration is set to 120mm per second in ports and pins. It happens right after a plunge as it starts to travel it makes it about a 1/4 inch then hangs up. there are 9 slots and it only does it in one slot at the same depth and place. I dialed down my acceleration and speed. same thing.
I run all shielded cable...…. power supply in in a separate box from the BOB and control cards...…
Here is the lines of code where it happens.
This is in mm

Z-12. F190.
X417.014 F2000.
Z-15. F190.
X436.014 F2000.
Z-18. F190.
X417.014 F2000.
Z-21. F190.
X436.014 F2000.
Z-24. F190.

Any suggestions would be great!

Are you running parallel port, if so you might need to up the pulsing rate from the default 25000 to 35000

Yes I’m running parallel port, I’ll give that a try!

Thanks

Hi there!
My Mach3 CNC is not running at the posted feed rate. My motors are tuned for 1900 mm per minute velocity and 270mm for excel. My post script is telling the machine to run at 1800 but it only cuts at 1673.95 mm
Per minute? Even if I over ride the setting it still only cuts at 1673.95mm
I’m using Fusion 360 for the cad cam and post processing.
My Mach3 screen shows that the program is supposed to run at 1800.
Any thoughts on this?

Thanks
Glen

Mach3 under Vista / Re: computer screen goes black when running mach3

Pulled the cooling fan from the processor and cleaned off the thermal paste.
Couldn’t find my little tub of paste, so used some thermal sheet instead. The computer has been running well the last couple of days. I also made a filter box to house the computer.
It serves two purposes, keeps the dust out of the computer and also cleans dust out of the shops air. The box houses a 20 x 24 pleated furnace filter and has two squirrel 🐿 cage blowers to pull the air through.

Usually it's not a video card that makes problem, it's a processor.
Check the cooler on processor, thermal compound state, ...
When processor overheats it shuts down the computer.

Ok thanks I’ll pull the cooler off and have a look and reapply thermal
Compound.

Hi,
it couldn't be as simple as a power saviing feature of the monitor could it?

Craig

Hi Craig, no because the Mach3 actually stops dead in its tracks just seconds before the screen goes blank. Plus I have everything turned off no power save no screen turn9ng off no hard drive hibernation....

I opened the case up after some run time and the video card other then dusty was not hot just warm. I’ve brought it to the house to play with and test all night.

Hi Russ,
It’s about 74 deg in the shop but yes dust is a big factor I’m cutting tons of wood.  I blow out the computer inside daily. Now that it been run in for a while I’ll open the case up and see how hot it is. last time I checked this morning the video card wasn’t even warm

Mach3 under Vista / computer screen goes black when running mach3
« on: March 31, 2020, 12:04:59 PM »
Hi there,
I'm running a windows 7 computer with stand alone video card, been running his particular computer for a couple of months now.
but all of a sudden today after about say ten minutes of running a jobs with mach3, the operation stops cutting and a second later the computer screen goes black and will not respond to keyboard or mouse. i have to unplug the computer, reboot and start all over again only to have it happen again 10-20 minutes later.

I'm wondering if it is my Video card packing it in?

Thanks
Glen
