Mach4 Plugins / Re: Newbie Mach4 ShuttlePro Setup
« on: December 15, 2020, 08:44:32 AM »
Update: I bought a black ShuttlePro v2 and it worked perfectly out of the box with Mach 4 on Windows 10.

Looking at the silver ShuttlePro (Model SP-JNS) vs the black ShuttlePro v2 the Mach 4 software must not be coded to recognize the silver ShuttlePro. One thing that is very different between the 2 devices is the USB device vendor ID (VID) and product ID (PID) values. These ID values are "burned in" at the factory and can't usually be updated or corrected with a device firmware upgrade.

Old silver ShuttlePro (SP-JNS)
USB Vendor ID: 05f3
USB Product ID: 0240

Newer black ShuttlePro v2
USB Vendor ID: 0B33
USB Product ID: 0030

Anyone trying to use an old silver ShuttlePro should not pull out any more hair and just get the black ShuttlePro v2 device. I bought a new black ShuttlePro v2 for $99 from B & H Photo https://www.bhphotovideo.com/

Don't *think* you are getting a deal on eBay. I saw the same black ShuttlePro for well over $100.

HiCON Motion Controller / Re: "Reduced Timer Socket" rate warnings
« on: December 11, 2020, 11:59:28 PM »
The polling frequency was at 80 KHz. I set it to 75KHz and the errors went away. Is 75 KHz a reasonable polling frequency for a 3 axis mill?

It's weird. I did not have that problem before moving the HiCON controller to another CNC machine. The other significant change is PC also got the latest Windows 10 updates.

It's the same Windows 10 desktop system and nothing running but Mach4 on the box. It's an AMD A10 desktop system with 8GB of RAM and 120 GB SSD Sata3 drive. Performance has not been an issue in the past.

Has Vital tested the 7866 the latest Windows 10 patches (Windows 10.0.19041)?

I will try reducing the polling frequency and see where I get with that.

Mach4 Plugins / Newbie Mach4 ShuttlePro Setup
« on: December 04, 2020, 11:31:48 AM »
Hi All,

I just bought a used Joes CNC machine with an old ShuttlePro (silver colored). The ShuttlePro worked with the old Mach 3 setup that came with the machine. After upgrading the machine to use my HiCON Integra controller and Mach 4 I'm trying to get the ShuttlePro working. The machine works with the Mach 4 GUI jog buttons. I enabled the ShuttlePro plugin and followed the YouTube video for ShuttlePro setup. When I pop up the dialog to map a ShuttlePro button nothing happens when I press buttons on the ShuttlePro.

I installed the official Contour ShuttlePro drivers for Windows and confirmed all the buttons and wheels work. My PC is running the latest Windows 10 version/patches and Mach 4 v4.2.0.4300.

Searching the forum for ShuttlePro postings I don't see any specific help on initial setup of plugin, drivers, etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

HiCON Motion Controller / "Reduced Timer Socket" rate warnings
« on: December 03, 2020, 03:30:42 PM »
I am seeing many "Reduced Timer Socket transmit rate" warnings in the HiCON console window. My machine appears to be behaving okay.

The HiCON controller is plugged into a 100 GB 5-port switch along with the Windows PC. The switch uplink is connected to an NetGear Orbi wired port and then on to my Spectrum 300 Mbps connection to the Internet. The network cable used to the HiCON is designed for Ethernet with CAT5 UTP printed on the cable.

Any suggestions on how to fix this or tune some setting to reduce the amount of warnings.

HiCON Motion Controller / Router relay control
« on: November 29, 2020, 03:32:08 PM »
I am installing my 7866 into a new/used CNC mill with a router relay (see attached image). This is the first time I'm using a relay. Would I attach the "+" side of the relay to +5volts and the "-" side to NP3 to activate the relay?

Thanks for any suggestions

HiCON Motion Controller / Re: Hicon Integra 7866 to Gecko G201

Thank you for the quick response! I will use the G210 wiring diagram.

HiCON Motion Controller / Hicon Integra 7866 to Gecko G201
« on: November 17, 2020, 10:07:26 PM »
I have purchased a used CNC machine with Gecko G201 drivers and want to use my Integra 7866 controller. After reviewing the knowledge base article showing sample wiring with Gecko G210 and G213V drivers I'm a bit unsure of the correct wiring. The G201 looks a little different so I wanted to verify the correct 7866 to G201 wiring.

I have attached the Gecko G201 manual.

Changing the IP address to worked. My controller PC and network router can access the Integra.

HiCON Motion Controller / Integra not responding to pings when on network
« on: October 15, 2019, 12:40:48 PM »
My CNC Windows 10 PC and Integra 7866 are connected to a simple 5 port Ethernet switch. I also have an Ethernet cable running to my network router. When I have the Windows PC DHCP connect to the WAN it receives an IP on the 192.168.1.x network with a default gateway of (see screenshot). When this happens the Windows 10 PC can't ping the Integra.

When I set a Windows static IP of the PC can ping and connect to the Integra (see screenshot).

The Integra's factory set IP is (see screenshot).

If I update the Integra's IP address to will that allow the Integra be seen on the network?

If not, what change can I make to the Integra's TCP/IP configuration to help it be seen on the network?
